Hey guys, this is Kevin from JazTime.com, and today we'll be reviewing the Rolex Yacht Master 40. The reference number for this watch is 116622. We'll be going over the price, dial, bezel, case, crown, bracelet, clasp, and we'll talk about the movement towards the end of the video, okay? So as of March, 2017, this watch retails at a Rolex retailer for $11,550. At JazTime.com you can get this for $8,700, or rather as low as $8,700, okay? Let's go ahead and review the dial now. So for the dial, of course we have the blue dial in my hands. It comes in two other dial configurations, one is dark rhodium, dark rhodium with a light blue hand, and just a platinum with a red hand, and by hand I mean this second hand. As you can see this one has blue with dark red hand. But as a treat, I actually do have the dark rhodium with me. So you can see here that's how the dark rhodium looks, and that's the dark rhodium on my right here with a light blue hand and the blue or red hand on my left. So pretty nice, but we'll go ahead and continue on specifically with the blue dial. We have the date located at the 3 o'clock position with a Cyclops lens on top for magnification, magnification of that date and easier viewing. We have the Maxi Dial, which is the circular hour markers with the index at the 6, 9, and at the 12. They're 30% larger than the standard Rolex dials, and they are luminescent for up to eight hours. For the hands, the hands are luminescent as well, and the hour markers and the hands are all fashioned in 18 carat white gold to prevent any tarnishing, okay? One thing I do want to mention, also different from the blue and the rhodium is at the bottom here we have the Yacht Master name in red, whereas the rhodium has it in the light blue. So let's go ahead and review the bezel now. The bezel is a high grade, 950 platinum, which is a bidirectional rotatable 60 minute graduated with raised numerals. So this tracks elapsed time of up to 60 minutes. One thing I want to mention about the platinum, as I said it's a high grade platinum, this is 950, and what that means is that it's 95% platinum and it has 5% of other alloys. So if you ever hear of 950 or 900, it refers to how much platinum is in the actual platinum. So with the bezel it does track elapsed time, and it is bidirectional, not unidirectional. As you can see, rotates left, or right, and it's gonna be used to track elapsed time, as I mentioned. So currently we have the minute hand, we have the minute hand at the 3 o'clock position, and if we wanted to track the time of let's say your Yacht Racing, you can move that arrow indicator from the 12 o'clock position to the minute hand, and however much the minute hand moves you can track how much time. Obviously the index are five minute increments, so that would be five, 10, 15, 20, and so on and so forth. You could also use this for day to day activities as well, such as tracking how fast you can run a mile or even checking to see how long it takes for the business meeting to end. So pretty useful feature for being a very simple feature. Now for the case, let's go ahead and move onto the case now. The case is a 40 millimeter case, that's from my index finger here to my thumb, that's 40 millimeters in diameter. It is a 904 all steel made case, which is Rolex's in house made steel. It has a little more shine to it, as you can see with the high polish on the sides of the case that goes all around. And it actually is not too high of a profile on this Yacht Master. It will fit under suit cuffs very easily. On the other side of the case we have the Rolex crown, obviously with the trademark Rolex logo on it. And again, the high polish along the sides. For the crown as we move on, the crown has very simple functions. There's a twin screw down triple water proofness system. Sorry, tongue twisted there. It can be just unscrewed counterclockwise and it pops out to the hand winding position in which you can wind the watch. A simple tug of it will let you adjust the date. As you see, very rapid setting, easy setting of the date. And a final tug will put it in the hand setting position in which you can set the hands bidirectionally. One thing to mention is it does stop the seconds hand, or the hack movement, which is indicated by the red seconds hand here, and that lets you adjust, or rather set the time, to an atomic clock precisely down to the very second. Okay, so always make sure you screw the case or rather screw the crown back in tight against the case as it keeps this watch water resistant for up to 100 meters or 330 feet. As you can see as I press the crown back in the seconds hand has started moving again. Let's go ahead and review the bracelet now. So a very beautiful oyster bracelet. We have brushed steel on the outer portions, on the outer portion of the three piece link bracelet, while the middle piece, middle links, are of a high polish, which adds very nice contrast and really brings more out of that high polish in the center, and that goes all the way to the clasp as well. As you can see, there's a high polish in the center of the clasp. The clasp itself is a safety Oysterlock. As you can see, it has a little hinge that locks on top of the oyster here. Bam, as you see, pops out very easily, very nicely, good and secure. We have the Rolex name embossed onto the clasp lid itself, and behind the clasp itself we have the Comfort Extension Link which allows for five millimeter adjustments inward or outward. So that's how it looks outward. Inward it snaps back in. That's how it looks outward. And that's for hot days if your wrist swells up then you can adjust for a little more comfort so it doesn't feel too tight on the wrist, okay? So let's go ahead and move onto the movement now. The movement is housed in a very simple oyster cased back. It is a perpetual mechanical self winding movement that's Rolex's caliber 3135 in house manufactured movement with a precision of minus or plus two seconds a day. The functions of the movement is the center, hour, minute, and seconds hand instantaneous changing of the date as I've shown you before wrapped with stopping of the seconds hand for precise time setting, as also described earlier. The oscillators are a pair of magnetic blue parachrom hairspring. And the power reserve of this watch is approximately 48 hours, meaning you could put this down on a Friday night, pick it back up on a Saturday, Sunday evening and it'll still be keeping time very nicely.
