Hey guys, this is Kevin from JazTime.com and today we'll be doing a review on the Rolex Datejust 31, reference number 278240. We'll be going over the price, the dial, the bezel, case, crown, bracelet, clasp, and we'll talk about the movement towards the end of the video. However, for this specific version of the watch, we've actually added a custom dial and a custom bezel. The rest of the watch has been left untouched. So speaking of the dial, specially for Datejust, there's multiple different configurations for the Datejust watch. If we're talking about specifically the base model, the base model configurations, for the index hour markers and roman numeral hour markers, you're looking at silver, white, blue, black, or pink in dials. For arabic numerals, you're only able to get that in a black dial. And for a special floral pattern which has floral patternings in the background that's a little bit raised up, that adds a little bit more dimension to the watch, you can get that in a pink, brown, or silver colored dial. Now specifically, for our custom style dials, we can actually do numerous configurations. Actually, too many to list. So the best thing to do is if you're interested in a specific color and hour marker configuration with, on the dial, then give us a call. We'll always be happy to help and we can find the right dial for you. Like I said, in my hand, I have the pink mother of pearl, as you can see, very beautiful. As I tilt it towards the light, you can kinda see that highlighting in the pink on the mother of pearl. There are diamond hour markers about a carat weight. The Datejust sort of architecture is very similar throughout. It's gonna always be hour markers. Rolex crown logo at the 12 o'clock position with the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust name right underneath that. At the three o'clock position, we'll have the date there with a Cyclops lens on top of that sapphire crystal for magnification, easier viewing of that date. For the hands, they are made out of 18 carat white gold with luminous tips, meaning that it does glow in the dark for up to eight hours. Okay, all right. So moving on from the dial now to the bezel. Again the bezel is a diamond bezel. Has around 42 to 45 diamonds in total all around the circumference of the bezel with about a carat weight for the diamonds. Typically for the base model is a high polished, high polished steel dome bezel. And we replaced that for this watch with a diamond bezel. Moving on to the case now, as the name states, is a 31 millimeter case size. So from my index finger to my thumb here, that's 31 millimeters in diameter. It is a dress watch, so you do have high polish on the lugs on the top and at the bottom of the lugs. You can see that nice high polish. Size of the case as well. Nice high polish there. That travels very nicely with the bracelet, as you can see. On the other side of the case, same thing. Same high polish along these sides with the bracelet. Rolex crown logo on the crown itself. The crown is a twin lock double waterproofness system. It unscrews counterclockwise, so as shown. Just going counterclockwise will open up that crown to the standard position. This first position, or standard position, allows you the winding watch. About 15 to 20 times from a dead stop allows for the watch moving again. A simple tug of the crown will put you in the next position, in which you are allowed to adjust the date instantaneously, as shown. Just by going counterclockwise very easily. Another tug of the crown will put you in the final position. Keep your eye on the second hand here, as we pull out to the final position. That does stop the second hand, allowing for precise time setting. Such as doing an atomic clock online. You can set the time down to the exact seconds. The hands as well are able to be set bidirectionally as shown. Always make sure, press the crown nice and tight against the case and screw that down, going clockwise. Once the crown is fully in against the case, that protects, that has a water, the watch has a water resistance of 100 meters or 330 feet. Moving on to the bracelet now, we have the beautiful oyster bracelet. As this is dress watch as I've mentioned, we have a very beautiful high polished steel down the center with a nice contrasting of the brushed steel. Brushed steel on the outer of the three piece oyster links. The bracelet and the case of the watch are made out of 904L steel, which is an in-house made steel by Rolex. It has additional corrosion resistance on the steel itself. As you can see the patterning of that oyster bracelet is very nice throughout. To the clasp, even the clasp mimics that same high polished down the center with brushed steel on these outer edges. Okay? Opening up the oyster bracelet, this is just a simple folding oyster clasp, reveals the high polished clasp blades with the Rolex name embossed on there, as you can see. The clasp has only one feature. It's what Rolex calls the easy extension link. Right behind the clasp is a little indentation on the front and the back, the front and the back of the side of the clasp and that actually allows you for five millimeter increments of moving the bracelet forward, or rather inward or outward. And that's more of a quality of life feature, such as on a hot summer day, your wrist might swell up. The watch might feel a little bit too tight on your wrist, and you can adjust that to give yourself a little more breathing room on your wrist or vice versa for colder days. Moving on to the movement now, the movement is housed in this oyster case backing. It is a professional, mechanical, self-binding movement. It's Rolex's in-house made caliber 2235 movement. It has a precision of minus two, plus two seconds a day after casing and for the functions, you're looking at the center hour, minute, and second hand with instantaneous changing of the date with rapid setting and stopping of the second hands for precise time setting, as I've shown you with the functions of the crown. The power reserve of this watch, you're looking at a 48-hour power reserve, meaning you could put this watch down on a Friday evening, pick it back up on a Sunday afternoon and it will still be keeping time just fine. All right, so once again, let me go ahead and show you this watch on my wrist. So find the folding oyster, go ahead and open it up as so. One thing to keep in mind, I do have an average man-sized wrist. You're looking at the seven inch wrist here. As you can see, still a little bit more room, still a little bit more room for that bracelet there. And there's the watch on my wrist, okay? That pink mother of pearl looks absolutely gorgeous.
