Description

Welcome to jaztime.com. Jaztime.com is an online store that buys or trades authentic luxury watches. We make these videos so our customers can easily choose the best watch for themselves, in the comfort of their own home. We offer the lowest prices anywhere online. If you want to know the price of the watch, simply click on the links in the description below. We greatly appreciate it if you buy a watch from jaztime.com once in a while. Today we'll be reviewing the Rolex Datejust. This the 28 millimeter version, one of the smallest sizes available. We'll be covering the dial, bezel, case, crown, bracelet, clasp. And we'll talk about the movement towards the end of the video. So we're jumping right into the dial here. I'm gonna give you a little more zoom in because this is a very small watch. You can see the dial structure is still your typical datejust dial structure, which is the Rolex crown logo at the 12 o'clock position. We have 10 diamond hour markers, as you can see, from the one to the two, skipping past at three o'clock position as the three o'clock position has the date window with a cyclops lens on top of that Sapphire crystal for magnification, easier viewing of that date. And also the date window itself is also bordering with a nice 18 carat yellow gold as well, along with the rest of the hour markers being set in diamond. We have them sitting in a 18 carat yellow gold fashioning as well, to prevent any tarnishing. The hour and minute hand, full solid 18 carat yellow gold, as well. This is the most luxurious of all the models of the 28 for two-tone, being mother of pearl and diamonds. But of course, if you're not interested in going too high, you're not interested in the diamonds or the mother of pearl, you have other options available, as a datejust typically has multiple options. So you can get this watch and the index hour markers on a silver or white dial, or even champagne. Or you can get it in Roman numerals if you enjoy Roman numerals instead, in the same colors as I mentioned. For the mother of pearl, you can only get the mother of pearl on diamonds. So that's something to keep in mind if you wanted to keep the mother of pearl, you have to get it with the diamond hour markers, as the diamonds compliment it very well. As you can see, with mother of pearl, it has sort of a different, sort of light structure compared to something like a sunburst dial that you would typically see on datejust watches. As I sort of tilt it around on my light box, it sort of captures lights and various different shades, as each mother of pearl will be unique in its own way, no mother of pearl will be the same. So it's something to keep in mind when purchasing a mother of pearl watch. But besides that, that's pretty much it for the dial, as we move on to the bezel now. The bezel is just a simple, 18 carat yellow gold, fluted bezel. One of the nicer compliments to a datejust watch is the fluted bezel. Very simple in it's structure. It's fixed in place. It does not move, does not turn. But it adds a nice, sort of, a nicer shine to the face of the watch. As you can see, it works like a sunburst feature. Where as you see, I tilt around on the light box, you see various contrast of the darker coated gold areas versus the more highlighted gold areas. And that adds a nice shine to the face of the watch, to compliment with that mother of pearl. Moving on to the case size. The case, as I mentioned, is a 28 millimeter case size. So from my index finger to my thumb here, that's 28 millimeters in diameter. Side profile view of the watch. You can see, very beautiful high polished. Of course, this being a very small watch, you won't have this watch sitting high off the wrist at all. You have nice high polish on the side of the case, on to the other side, same thing, nice high polish on the sides of the case with the sides of the bracelet. You can see the Rolex crown logo on the crown itself there, indicated by two little dots indices underneath, meaning that this watch has a twin lock, double waterproofness system, meaning that this watch is water resistant for 100 meters or 330 feet. Let me show you the crown functions as we move on. So we're gonna unwind the crown counterclockwise, as shown. I'm actually gonna go pull it out to the final position, because I want to show you the date window. So, once more from the top, in the standard position, where the crown is first unwound to. This is where you can wind your watch, about 15 to 20 clockwise turns is all you need to get the watch started from a dead stop. Pulling the crown to the next position will allow you to adjust the date instantaneously. As you can see, very quick to adjust the date by going counterclockwise. And then pulling the crown out to the final position will stop that seconds hand, as you'll see here. I've stopped a seconds hand right at that one o'clock position. And that allows for us to precised time settings, such as to an atomic clock online. You can set the time down to the exact seconds. And then of course, the hands move bidirectional, however you like. Then you can set the time, however you like. I'm just gonna reset it back to 10 and two. And pressing a crown back in will start a seconds hand once more. And always make sure, screw the crown nice and tight and against the case as you want to keep your watch water resistance, once more, 100 meters or 330 feet. All right. One thing that I did forget to mention, is that on the case itself, this is a dressier watch so you'll have nice, beautiful high polished lugs on the bottom and on the top of the case, as well. You can see, very beautiful high polish all around. Moving on to the bracelet now. So this is a jubilee style bracelet, which is Rolex's five-piece link bracelet. You can see the center three links nicely high polished or mirror polished in a 18 carat yellow gold, 904L steel used for the outer of the the five-piece links. So it's nicely sand finished to give a nice contrast to that shine. This watch still use a concealed folding crown clasp, which is basically, the clasp is located behind this, sort of jubilee pattern, only broken up by the crown logo. And that's actually where you open up the watch from. So you're gonna go ahead and pull that crown out, revealing a nicely high polished clasp plates with the Rolex name embossed onto the high polished blade itself there. You can see that very beautiful embossing. So I'm gonna close that up one more, so you can see that continuous pattern once again. So, this is a concealed folding and crown clasp. Let's that jubilee pattern go throughout the whole bracelet, all the way to the other side, as well. All right. So one more time, I'm gonna show you that clasp once again. So we're gonna locate that Rolex crown logo, open it up, and there we are. All right. Moving on to the movement now. The movement is housed in this oyster-style case packing, nice sand finish, bordering of a high polish all around the back. The movement itself, is gonna be a different type of movement that you would typically see with Rolex watches because this is such a small watch. Of course, it needs a more of a specialized movement to fit in the small casing. So this watch runs a in-house made movement by Rolex though, of course. Professional mechanical self-winding movement. It's a caliber 2236 movement. So it has the precision that Rolex is known for, which is minus two, plus two seconds a day, because they double test their movements. And it has the functions of your typical datejust watch, which is the hour, minute, and seconds hand, with instantaneous changing of the date and stopping of the seconds hand, as I've shown you with the crown functions. The oscillator is a Syloxi hairspring in silicon, meaning of that the hairspring is made out of a silicon material, that which aids in resistance against magnetism, as you don't want your watch to get magnetized. Cause if it does get magnetized, it will cause it to run erratically, usually much faster in most cases. All right. The shock absorbers for this watch is all in-house made shock absorbers. So it's a Paraflex shock absorbers made by Rolex. The industry standard shock absorbers, the KIF shock absorbers and these shock absorbers that Rolex made, they claim to absorb almost 50% more shocks, than the industry standard that they used to use, which was the KIF, once again. The powers reserve for this watch, you're looking at a 55 hour power reserve, meaning you can put this watch down at Friday evening, pick it back up around the Sunday evening and it'll be keeping time just fine. All right. Unfortunately, I can't show you this watch on my wrist because this watch is actually sized for women. So, it probably has a six and a half inch of wrist size, maybe a little bit smaller. I'm actually not 100% sure, but I do know it's not going to fit on my wrist. I have an average man sized wrist with a seven inch wrist, and this will choke my wrist out. So this watch is definitely more for the ladies who have a very, very small risk. And I know, there are quite a few out there cause they come to Jaztime, they're looking for a watch and sometimes, a 31 might be too big for them. In some cases, you'd be surprised. So that's why these 28s exists, because some people, some women out there do have very small wrists and Rolex has made a watch to compliment those people.
