Today I'm going to be reviewing the Rolex Date-Just 28, yellow Golden Steel Silver Roman on Jubilee, reference 279173. I'm going to talk to you guys about the case, the bezel, the dial bracelet, movement. Try it, on and give you my thoughts. Let's dive right in. It's a Date-Just 28. That's from my thumb to my index finger. The diameter from here to here, of the watch not including the crown is 28 millimeters. It's the smallest watch Date-Just that Rolex makes they used to make Date-Just in 26. They no longer do because it's too hard to read and it's too small. It's been replaced by the Date-Just 28. Okay, so anyways, if you're a woman who likes to wear small watches or a woman who has a small wrist than 28 would be good for you. It uses a mono block, middle case with a screw down case back in winding crown. That means this case is stainless steel. What you see right here, the part Rolex calls this material, yellow roller soar. That is a combination of stainless steel and 18 carat yellow gold. What part is yellow gold? The bezel, the hour markers you see there and the center stripe going down the center that is yellow gold 18 carat. The rest of it is stainless steel. Oh yeah, and the crown. The rest of it is stainless steel. So it is some, as some people call it yellow, gold and steel or yellow roller soar or two-tone or stealing gold any one of those things you can call it. But yes, it's yellow, gold and steel. Let's move on to the dial. The dial is silver. And if you kind of look at it it radiates slightly different, depending on which direction you look at it. And that's because, well I guess that's how Rolex made their dials to look like that. I've always noticed that it has this sort of shine. It doesn't look just flat silver. It looks, it sort of radiates from the center. I'm not sure if you guys can see that it kind of looks lighter and darker depending on which way you turn it. What else you should notice about this is it has Roman numerals, at least as of now 2020 Rolex only offers it in either Roman numerals as you see here, index which is luminescent or with diamonds. So the what's the drawbacks? Well, Roman looks nice but unfortunately you cannot see it at night. Index you can. So I'm not sure if that makes a difference at any rate they make this Roman dial in silver, white, and champagne. I don't believe they make it in anything else. So that those are your options. Now looking at the bezel, the bezel is what Rolex calls a fluted, 18 carat yellow gold bezel. Now it used to be here for waterproofness. The bezel is this thing going around the crystal which is the thing in the center. It used to be, it used to have a function. Now it's purely symbolic. It's what gives Rolex it's signature look. This thing right here, this 18 carat, yellow, gold bezel. Okay, now let's move on to the bracelet. The bracelet is a Jubilee bracelet a five-piece link across, the bracelet material is yellow roller soar, which is a combination of stainless steel and 18 carat yellow gold. As you can probably see from this video, it's 18 carrot down the center and stainless steel on the edges. If you want my thought I think this is the best combination for watches because all gold is too soft and all stainless steel, it's not as luxurious. So if you want to mix of both, well, you get yellow gold and steel or rose golden steel is good too. Clasp, here is a concealed folding crown clasp. What does all that mean? It means when you close the bracelet and click it shut like that, the watch looks like a bracelet and it's concealed as opposed too, not concealed, which occurs on the Date-Just 36, The Date-Just 31 ones and the Date-Just 28, all have this concealed folding crown clasp, which means once you close it, it looks more like a bracelet. There's no buckle. On the 36 and 41, they changed that to have a buckle on the end of it. Makes sense. Okay, let's talk about the movement. The movement is housed inside this thing I'm tapping on and it's a caliber 2-2-3-6, it's precise to plus minus two seconds a day. And it has a power reserve of 55 hours. So what exactly is different? Well, it used to be a 2-2-3-5. What is different? It's more precise and it has a longer power reserve. I'm not sure that matters since you can't see it anyways. I can tell you one other thing that is different about this new reference number which is 2-7-9-1-7-3, as opposed to 1-7-9-1-7-3, is that the lugs, the lugs is what connects the case of this watch. Okay, To the bracelet. They are thinner right here. And why is that? Gives it a more of a streamlined look. It looks more balanced and just looks more modern. Okay, All right. I guess that brings us to the end of the review. So I am going to try this thing on and give you my thoughts. So my thoughts on this watch are, well, I really like this watch, it's your prototypical Rolex in that it has the signature Jubilee, bracelet the fluted bezel, and a beautiful dial. I liked the Roman, although you can't read it at night. I think that's, it's more classy than the index. I wish they could somehow figure out a way to make the Roman numerals luminous at night. I think that would be even more cool, but they can't. But I do, you know, some people do choose this configuration with a champagne dial. I actually prefer on the silver. And I tell you why, because the watch has already all champagne, you know, so I mean, as champagne as in the gold, and it gives a nice contrast with having the dial as silver and the rest of it gold. I really liked that contrast. Okay, anyways, if you liked this watch, please go to JazTime.com, J-A-Z-T-I-M-E.com and buy it. For the lowest price anywhere online.
