If you'd like to know the price simply click on the links in the description below. We greatly appreciate if you purchase your next watch from us at Jaztime.com Today, we'll be talking about a discontinued model, a Rolex Explorer II, with a black dial with no holes in its case. With the inscribed bezel. Reference number, 16570. And as I said, this watch is certainly discontinued, superseded by the 216570. And this version of watch actually contains no holes in its case, varying that of the more modern cases that began in the mid to late 2000s. And as such, this particular model is a bit on the rarer side. This particular model, actually sort of bridges that gap between those older models that have the little hole apertures to remove the bracelet, should you please, and also, the new modern ones that require a bit of a tool to get there on the inside. All right. This case is 40 millimeters in diameter and just over 12 millimeters thick, 48 millimeters lug to lug in height and 20 millimeters between lugs. All made of steel, with a 24 hour fixed steel bezel. Has a typical monobloc middle case with the screw down case back and the winding crown on the right side for the water resistance of a hundred meters or 330 feet below sea level. The dial, actually mirrors that of other sports model Rolex watches. Similar to that of say, Submariners and GMTs, with the dot hours and stick. Six and nine and triangle at the 12. The date window at the three shows the date, as you typically would see in other Rolex models such as, the Datejust and so forth. It also has that scratch proof, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with that Cyclops window so you can easily see the date at a glance. Also, it has that applied luminosity at night. So, if we turn out the lights here, we can actually see, once it focuses, that we have illumination on everything. Hour hand, minute hand. You can clearly see that Mercedes logo that's typical of say, other GMTs and even Submariners with the hour markers. And also that telltale triangle for the GMT position. So, you can see this in low light nice and easy. All right. And now, while we're here, we can also talk about how this works. So, it's all controlled with this winding crown, of course simply unwind it to the first position. So you can wind the watch, if you really need to. Pull out to the second position, and you can then move the hour hand and by extension, change the date. As you may have noticed, it was the 22nd, now it is the 23rd. The date changes with the hour hand, so, that's nice and easy. Pull out to the final position and you can then move the minute hand, and by extension, the GMT hand. And, note that the GMT hand actually, rotates once every day. And the GMT hand, that gigantic triangle at the very end of that red stick there, points to the hour on the bezel, as you can see there. So, right now it is midnight for whatever time zone, I happen to choose. On the 25th. All right. So, typically this would be the first thing that you would change depending on which time zone that you'd want that GMT hand to be pointing. You then, pull out that second position to adjust the hour hand based on your local time zone. All right. And, be sure to press that crown back in, screw it back against the case for that superior water resistance. All right. So what makes all of this work, is the 3186 movement. One of the newest movements in this specific model, where, the movement actually got updated a couple of times from this model. It was a really old movement. Now, the 3186, which allows for that GMT hand that points to the bezel on top of allowing the hour, minute and seconds hand to function while also showing the date. A lot of function in this tiny watch, very exceptional craftsmanship. There's diameter of 28.5 millimeters and approximately 6.5 millimeters in thickness. It beats out a frequency of 28,000 vibrations per hour with 31 joules. And, it also has a bi-directional winding rotor. So, you can simply just wind this once, wear it and your natural movements of your wrist will keep this watch wound for an up to 48 hour power reserve. The bracelet on this one is the older style of bracelet to match the area from which this watch came. With that falling oyster class, with that safety, careful of that safety. And that raised Rolex crown on the logo. Also, it has that, fully opening clasp with that stamping, to match that with the watch itself. And while we're here, we can try this on as well. All right, now, granted this is a used watch and it was sized to the person who originally had it. And, as you know, we do buy and sell pre-owned watches as well. So, this watch fits on my wrist perfectly, actually. It's a very snug fit. And also, I forgot to mention this earlier but these middle links are actually hollow. So if you take a look through them. Let me see if I can get my camera to focus on those. You can actually see through those center links which makes this certainly a very legacy sort of model. And, if you also consider the way that it wears on the wrist it's a lot lighter than, say, the newer models that are all solid links in the middle. The outer links are also, the outer links are also polished on the sides with all of the links lightly brushed on top with that satin finish to match that of the case. The side of the case is also high polished as well. All right. So this has a very excellent profile,` just over 12 mil millimeters thick and it wears on the wrist very nicely. It's a very light wear. And so you can definitely take this anywhere. All right. So, what do you think about this watch? Let us know down in the comments below. Be sure to leave a like, as it helps the channel out. Be sure to subscribe if you haven't already. And as always, if you want to purchase this, or any other watch, be sure to put in your order at Jaztime.com.
