And if you'd like to know the price, simply click on the links in the description below. We greatly appreciate if you buy your next watch from us, at Jaztime.com. Today, we'll be talking about the Panerai Luminor Submersible 44 millimeter with a black dial steel case on a rubber strip, reference number PAM24. This model is actually discontinued and was superseded by the PAM01024. But you can still get this watch through us at jaztime.com. Follow links in the description below. We'll be discussing the case, bezel, dial, crown, movement, strap, buckle and I will be providing my thoughts on these aspects throughout the video. This case, 44 millimeters in diameter. 15.8 millimeters in thickness and 24 millimeters between logs and just over 53 millimeters from lug to lug. This watch model, the Luminor was originally designed by Alessandro Petrini in 1993, as a means for Panerai to actually sell their watches to the public, rather than selling to the Royal Italian Navy. Who was basically up until that point, their main and pretty much only source of income. The general forum has mostly remained the same since Panerai's inception, but some slight differences such as, you know, lug size and case band sloping are slightly different. Along with a flatter crystal on the front. When compared to the 1950 models, the overall case is made of polished steel with abrupt yet rounded edges, as you would typically find within the Luminor line. As a submersible model, it is water resistant down to 300 meters or a 1000 feet below sea level. This bezel is a unidirectional rotating bezel made of stainless steel to match that of the case. There is a polished surface, although not high polish, it diffuses reflected light rather nicely. So it's to not steal the spotlight when you're busy checking the time. There's also a luminescent zero marker, much like that of the Rolex Submariner. Which is used for measuring and timing decompression stops during deeper dives. The overall bezel does have this dome shape, but the outermost section nearest the case has this really fine fluting. As you can see all the way around. It has this fine fluting so that you can grip it with ease, you know, while underwater, and as you travel up the bezel, you'll see these protruding dots that actually match the hour marks and five minute time intervals. So there's a tactile sensation that accompanies the aesthetics of this maritime inspired and maritime intended timepiece. Moving more inward, the crystal is of a transparent scratch-resistant Sapphire. So there's no fear of suit threads or buttons damaging the crystal. There's a magnifying lens directly over the three o'clock position, so that you can see the date very easily. The dial on this model has a matte black finish. With applied arrow marks, Arabic 12 and six with dots for the rest of the hours. Together, the matte black disperses the light reflections to maximize the contrast and ease of reading. While the luminescence makes it very easy to read in low light situations and deep underwater. We can demonstrate that now, turning out the lights and there you have it. The luminescence, even the hands, as well as the small seconds at the nine o'clock the twelve, three, six and nine positions also illuminated with the luminescent pearl, for the zero hour mark on the bezel. Turning the lights back on now. All right. The minute and hour hands also have that skeletonized appearance, part of that readability of keeping the luminescence only where it's needed more on the tips of the hands, not so much near the base, and while we're here, we can also discuss the aspects of the case that ties in with the dial functions. The crown and the signature Panerai's crown guard, that completely protects the outside of the crown with the lever that must be disengaged first in order to change any of the watches functions. So we can go over that right now, simply just lower the lever, and you can easily wind the watch with ease. You can pull out to the next position and you can adjust the date window with that rapid setting date. And pulling it out to the final position, allows you to move the minute hand and note the hacking seconds as it stops, the small seconds hand. Simply lift the lever up. And you're good to go. Easy and simple, just as Panerai does in typical fashion. So all of these functions are made possible with the movement, the OP3, an automatic mechanical movement diameter 30 millimeters, 21 jewels, Gloucester balance wheel with 28,800 vibrations per hour or four Hertz equipped with an income block anti shock device to prevent shocks from affecting the timekeeping, all of that leading to a power reserve of up to 42 hours. So you can set this down for almost two days and then you can pick it back up and it will be still keeping track of time. Just fine. All right. The strap on this watch is made of black rubber with some trenches and openings. Trenches on the top and some nice little openings underneath. If you can see, a little bit hard to see with the camera there. But those are for basically ease, of helping your wrist breathe. While also being flexible, so that you don't have the super rigid thing on your wrist when you're under water. And you know, and while we're here, we can also talk about the clasp. The clasp is also made of stainless steel with the Panerai logo across. There's a double button deployment system. So simply press both buttons in and it opens one side and the other side as well. The strap allows you to adjust the size to whatever size wrist you happen to have. This is the size that it came with. So we can try it on my wrist right now. Let's zoom out a bit. All right. And it's not a symmetrical folding clasp. So you got to do one side first, obviously the easier side, and then the top with the extra strap there. All right, now this is a looser fit for me, but note that, the way that the lugs work is that, they do point out quite a bit there, but they don't necessarily go too far beyond my wrist. Although my wrist is about 7.25 to 7.5 inches in circumference. The downward sloping lugs, it does help with that form factor and the strap very much hugs my wrist very nicely. So when it comes to the weight and the weight distribution, this is kind of a heavy watch, although I have worn significantly heavier. So this is probably about mid-size when it comes to the weight, the distribution is all in the case, as it is all stainless steel. With a rubber strap. So you'll feel it definitely on the outside of your wrist. The strap feels very, very soft, extremely form fitting for just about anybody really. So who is this watch for? As a submersible, it's for nearly anybody who goes for deep dives, that appreciates the functionality that Panerai offers. Especially with that large signature crown guard, that actually does more than simply protect the crown from the outside. It's extremely recognizable as a signature piece on any Panerai model. It also reduces any risk of opening up any part of the crown to damage as a result of threading and unthreading, as it's ready to wind, as soon as you disengage the lock. I love this aspect of Panerai watches, and I honestly wish other watch brands utilize this similar type of mechanism that made it this easy to adjust the time without the risk of possibly damaging those tiny threads or the weatherproofing seals inside.
