Welcome to jaztime.com. Today we're going to be reviewing the Rolex Explorer. It's a 214270 model number. They make it in only one configuration, and that's black. Here we go. Baam! That's the watch itself. And it has this bezel protector, which I'm going to take off. This is a brand new watch, so you guys are going to see what it looks like when you get it unboxed. Comes with this hang tag that you see here, and, let's take a look at what else it comes with. When I flip down this top section, the warranty pops out and I have, usually on the warranty cards, an international guarantee by Rolex. It has a serial number, model number and a few other things on the bottom. The backside contains a Rolex retailer purchase and the date of purchase. It has this warranty booklet in leather and a guarantee manual that says a few things about the watch in a bunch of different languages. I forgot to mention it also comes with this hang tag, sometimes the watches do come with this hang tag, sometimes they don't. And the hang tag is used for the authorized dealer, so they can identify quickly what the watch itself is, and what the serial number is, in case they have multiple ones. Okay. Now, let's talk about the watch itself. Now immediately you're gonna look at this watch and say, well what is the, what's so special about this watch? Well the Explorer, in fact, has a very interesting history, this is the watch that Hillary Tenzington wore to the top of Mount Everest in the 50s. Yeah, that's right these were the first people that had ever been to the top of the world. And what watch did they wear? Well, of course they wore the Rolex, in fact they wore the Rolex Explorer. No, not this exact Rolex Explorer, but a much earlier version of this in the 1950s. Now this watch is a 2016, it's a remake of that similar watch because technology has changed. They don't want to make the same watch they made in the 50s as they do in the 2016, but it looks very similar. You'll notice here that it's bare bones, and it's not bare bones because they can't make it, of course they can make it. But they want to keep this as bare bones and just straight as possible. Therefore, no date, there's no extra fuss on it, it's just what it is. Okay. It has the very famous and popular oyster band and what you'll notice about this oyster band is that, it's all satin finish. Meaning there's no high polish and that makes sense because this is supposed to be a rugged watch. A watch that you can wear to the top of the world and back. And maybe even to a dinner party after. So, you don't want it to be high polished, you want it to be this rough, stainless steel polish. Now you'll notice that this also has this, what's called the oyster safety lock clasp. And what that is is, this is the oyster clasp, that click, andthat click is the safety lock. Now this is not coming off your wrist, once you click the safety lock on, that's it. It's not coming off. Okay, unless you want it to come off, then of course it will. Okay. Now, this watch is gonna be a 39 millimeter okay, and let's see if that's actually true. I have this measuring tool here, let's turn it on. And what does 39 millimeter mean? That means the diameter of this watch. So, going from left to right, and Rolex says it's 39, and this tool says exactly 39.05. Alright, let's take a look at this watch on the wrist. This is the Rolex Explorer, 214270.
