Hey guys, this is Kevin from JazTime.com and today we'll be reviewing the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona. The reference number for this watch is 116503. We'll be going over the price, the dial, bezel, case, crown, bracelet and clasp, and we'll talk about the movement towards the end of the video. So as of October 2017, you can get this watch from authorized Rolex retailer for $16,900 or you can come to JazTime.com and get it for as low as $14,400. Moving on to the dial now. For the dial with Daytonas we have three sub-dials, as it is a chronograph watch. Each sub-dial tracks the different elapsed time. At the three o'clock we have 30 minutes, at the six o'clock we have the 60 seconds, and at the nine o'clock we have a 12 hour. And that can be controlled by the cronograph pushers, located at the two o'clock position and the four o'clock position, and I'll show you more on that when we move on to the crown later. But for now, for the dial we have index hour markers, as you can see these little, small, white-filled hour markers. That white fill is luminous and it allows for visibility at night because it glows in the dark. Same can be said for the hands, as the hands are made out of 18-karat yellow gold, with the tips having that luminous tips as well. The hour markers are, in addition, fashioned in 18-karat yellow gold as well, to prevent any tarnishing. At the 12 o'clock position we have the Rolex crown logo in the 18-karat yellow gold, with the Rolex Daytona name underneath that as well in a small little paragraph. Besides that, for the different configurations you can get the Daytona N, unfortunately for this specific model, there are not too many configurations. In my hand I have the black dial index hour markers. The other colors that the dial can come in are champagne and white. However, if you are feeling a little more luxurious, you can get diamond hour markers fashioned in 18-karat yellow gold and you can get that in the black, champagne dial color, or if you feel a little more luxurious, we also have dark and white mother of pearl. Moving on to the bezel now. The bezel is a fixed 18-karat yellow gold bezel with a tachymetric scale, and if you're not too sure how a tachymetric scale works, we actually have a video on our youtube channel that explains how to use that, so you can check that out after this video. Moving on to the case now. The case size is a 40 millimeter case size, so from my index finger to my thumb here. That's a 40 millimeter in diameter case. The side profile of the case is actually not too high, not too large. As you can see there. That has a nice high polish from the side of the case, that patterns very nicely with the bracelet as well. On the other side we have that same look going on with the side of the case, we have that nice high polish that patterns very nicely with the side of the bracelet. We have the crown on the cronograph pushers, made out of that 18-karat yellow gold. Specifically for the crown functions, the crown itself is a screwed-on TripLock, water-proofing the system, on the screws, counter-clockwise as shown. And it's for standard position, this is where you can actually wind the watch from a dead-stop 15 to 20 clockwise turns is all you need to get the watch going from a dead-stop. A simple tug of the crown will stop the sub-dial's seconds hand, and that allows for precise time setting, such as through an atomic clock online, you can get it down to the exact seconds. And here you can also set the hands bi-directionally as well. Pushing the crown back in will start that sub-dial seconds hand once more, as you can see. And always make sure to screw the crown nice and tight against the case, as you want to keep this Daytona water-resistance for 100 meters or 330 feet. For the chronograph pushers, same with the crown. Just go ahead and unwind them counterclockwise as shown. This controls the stopwatch features, as you see that central seconds hand, straight at the 12 o'clock position, can be started with the two o'clock pusher. It cannot be reset on the fly, as shown. However, if you do stop it, again, with the two o'clock pusher, and press again with the four o'clock pusher, that will reset these two sub-dials, the 30 minute sub-dial, the 12 hour sub-dial, and the central seconds hand back to the 12 o'clock position. Again, safety always first with this watch, as you wanna always have these crowns nice and tight against the case when you're not using them. Alright, moving on to the bracelet now. Bracelet, as you can see it is a two-tone bracelet. We have nice 9O4L in-house made Rolex steel, brushed steel at the outer of the three-piece Oyster links. Down in the center we have a nice, beautiful, high-polished 18-karat yellow gold. So this watch is more of a half-hybrid of a sports watch and a dress watch, so that 18-karat yellow gold high polish really pops out more on the bracelet, as you can see, In contrasting to that steel. For the clasp we have that same patterning, as well. One uniform pattern. The clasp itself is a folding Oysterlock safety clasp. The lock is located here, at the Rolex crown. Just simply pull that off as so, and then it reveals the folding Oyster, which can simply just be opened as shown. Here we have the Rolex name embossed onto high polished clasp blades. Behind the clasp itself, pulling at a 45 degree angle will release the bracelet a little bit and reveal the Easylink, which is located at the edge of the bracelet here. As you can see, in the clasp itself there's a little indentation, and that's because you can use a tool to shift the bracelet forward or backwards five millimeters, and this is referred to as the "Easylink," as Rolex calls it. It's more of a quality of life feature, such as, on a hot Summer day, your wrist starts to swell up, the watch might get a little bit too tight for your wrist, you can adjust for a little more comfortability and vice-versa on colder days. Okay, so nice feature to have. Alright, so moving on to the movement now. The movement is housed in this Oyster case backing, and has Rolex's professional, mechanical, self-winding movement, it's caliber 4130. It has a precision of minus two, plus two seconds a day, and has the functions of the center hour, minute, and seconds hand with the three sub-dials and the chronograph function with the stopwatch, and also stopping at the seconds hand on the six o'clock sub-dial for precise time setting, as I've shown you with the crown functions. The power reserve of this Daytona is 72 hours, so you can put this watch down on a Friday evening, pick it back up on a Monday afternoon, and it will be keeping time just fine. Let me just go ahead and show you this watch on my wrist now. As you can see, simple to use clasp. And there's the watch on my wrist. One thing to keep in mind, I do have an average man-sized wrist, which is a seven inch wrist, and you can see still a little bit of room left.
