Hey guys, this is Kevin from Jaztime.com and today we'll be reviewing the Rolex Datejust 36, reference number 116234. We'll be going over the price, dial, bezel, case, crown, bracelet, clasp and we'll talk about the movement towards the end of the video. If you're interested in getting this from an authorized Rolex retailer, you're looking at paying $7,950, whereas at Jaztime.com, you can get it for as low as $6,600. If you notice, this is on a Jubilee bracelet. If you're interested in the Oyster, you're looking at $100 less at $6,500. So let's go ahead and take a look at the dial now. With the Datejust, the dials are fairly simple. We always have the simple color, the hour markers and the date window at the 3:00 o'clock position with a Cyclops lens on top for easier viewing and magnification of that date. The hands are all in 18 karat white gold, there's no luminosity on the Datejust. One thing I want to mention about these Roman numerals before I let you know about the various configurations, is that they've actually updated the Roman numerals recently. I'll try to get a closer look here. It's probably best to see at the 9:00 o'clock position. You see there's a little slant, or rather a slit of a black line in these Roman hour markers now. That's a recent thing that they've done to have an easier viewing of the Roman numerals for the time. Before, it was just full 18 karat white gold, there were none of these black lines slitted into the Roman numerals. That's something to keep an eye out for. Personally, I like the update as it really does bring a little bit more to the dial for something so minor, so subtle. Let's go ahead and talk about the different configurations you can get for the Datejust. As Datejust is one of the most popular lines, there is multiple configurations you can get. For the Roman numerals, you can get a black, silver or blue dial. Of course, I have the white in my hand here. For index markers, where the markers are just simple lines, it's going to be white, silver, blue and black. If you're looking for Arabic numerals, it's going to be a steel dial with blue Arabic hour markers and you can also find it in a black dial with simple colored numerals instead of blue. Now if you're feeling a little adventurous, and you want a little more luxurious, for diamonds, if you want diamond hour markers, you're looking at an additional $2,000 on the retail pricing and you can find the diamonds in the black or the blue dial. If you are looking even more adventurous, you can get diamond hour markers with mother of pearl dial and the mother of pearl comes in either white, brown or pink and that's an additional $5,000 on top. So we're looking at $2,000 for diamonds alone, for mother of pearl and diamonds, you're looking at $5,000 additional on the retail pricing. For more unique dials, they also have the floral pattern, which they have flower patterning in the background with only Arabic nine and six numeral, with no other hour markers. They also have the Jubilee dial, which is the Rolex name, the pattern all along the backside of the dial. So let's go ahead and move on to the case now. The case, this size Datejust is a 36 millimeter Datejust, so that's my experience, my thumb here, that's 36 millimeters in diameter. The profile, not very high or low, will fit under suit cuffs, dress cuffs very nicely. Obviously very beautiful with the high polish on the sides. On the opposite side, same thing, has that very nice high polish along the sides, even the crown being set with a high polish as well. For the bezel, we have a standard fluted bezel. The bezel itself is 18 karat white gold and it is high polished as well to bring more shine, as you can see as it kind of glistens as I tilt it around in the light. For the crown, the crown serves a very simple function, that is a screw down, twin lock, double waterproof in this system. It unscrews counterclockwise, as you'll see here, and this position is the hand winding position in which you can wind the watch. A small tug of the crown will unset it's date setting position, in which you can change the date instantaneously as shown. A final tug of that crown will let you set the hands bidirectionally, as you can see. One thing to mention about the final position of the crown, is that it will stop the second hand, or the hack movement, which will allow for precise time setting, such as to an atomic clock if you want to get it down to exact seconds, to the timing on your iPhone or atomic clock online then you can. Of course, always make sure to screw the crown nice and tight and back in against the case. That will start the second hand once more and keep this watch water resistant for up to 100 meters or 330 feet. So let's go ahead and take a look at the bracelet now. For the bracelet, we have the Jubilee bracelet here. It's made up of a five piece link, as you can see, two large links and three center smaller links. The larger outer portions of it are brush polished, while the center is fully high polished. Itvery nicely throughout the bracelet as you can see here. The clasp is located, of course, on the bracelet and it is hidden by the Rolex crown. As you can see, the clasp sits behind the bracelet, and it's called the concealed folding clasp as you can see there. This is a simple folding clasp. Fortunately, this clasp is very basic, very simple, obviously easy to use, has a high polished clasp blade with the Rolex name embossed onto the clasp blade. The only downside is that if you do need to adjust this watch for your wrist size, you'll have to take it to a watchmaker to have links removed or added, whereas if you have the Oyster bracelet, if you're interested in the Oyster bracelet, it has the comfort extension link located behind the clasp, which you can extend the bracelet five millimeters inwards or outwards. So let's go ahead and talk about the movement now. The movement is housed in this simple Oyster case back. It is Rolex's caliber 3135 movement. It's a professional, mechanical, self winding movement with a precision of minus two, plus two seconds a day. The functions of the movement is tracking of the center hour, minute and second hand with the instantaneous changing of the date with rapid setting and stopping the second hand for precise time setting, as I've shown you with the crown. The power reserve of this watch is 48 hours, so you can put this watch down on a Friday evening, pick it back up on a Sunday evening and it should still be keeping time perfectly fine. Okay, so I'm actually going to go ahead and show you this watch on my wrist now. One thing to keep in mind is that this is, the watch is brand new with all the links. I have a seven inch wrist and you can see here, it definitely fits me fine with a little extra room to spare so you're looking at a standard seven and a half inch bracelet, or rather, a bracelet to fit a wrist that is seven and a half inches, sorry. There you are. There's the dial frontward, look at that profile on the side of the wrist, like I said, room to spare, always nice as you don't want your watch to be choking your wrist.
