Hey guys, this is Kevin from JazTime.com and today we'll be reviewing the Rolex Datejust 36. The reference number for this watch is 116234. We'll be going over the pricing, the dial, bezel, case, crown, bracelet, clasp, and we'll talk about the movement towards the end of the video. All right, so as of August, 2017 you can purchase this Datejust 36 at an authorized Rolex retailer for $9,800, or you can come to JazTime dot com and get it for as low as $8,400. Moving on to the dial, as you know, Datejust has numerous configurations for the dial. The one I have in my hand here, you're looking diamond hour markers fashioned in 18 carat white gold to prevent any tarnishing, and we have, obviously, the black dial. If you're not interested in just the plain black dial, you can also get in the blue dial with diamond hour markers or silver. If you're feeling a little more luxurious, you can also get a mother of pearl dial which is white mother of pearl, dark mother of pearl, or a pink mother of pearl with diamond hour markers. Of course this does command a higher pricing. And if you're not interested in either of those, we do have more feminine approaches, with a floral background with a pink floral patterning or brown. And if you're just looking for something more basic, more simple, more everyday, we also have, there's also the Roman Arabic and index, specifically for the Roman index, you can get it in blue, white, silver or black. For the index you have the addition of pink. For Arabic, Arab numerals, you're looking at a silver dial with blue Arabic numerals or a black dial with silver Arabic numerals. All right, besides that, the Datejust face is very, very basic. It's just the dial, the hour markers, and we have the date at the 3 o'clock position, with the date aperture, cyclops lens on top of that sapphire crystal for magnification and easier viewing of that date. Moving on to the bezel, the bezel is, as I say, a very simple 18 carat white gold fixed, fluted bezel. As you can see, there's little-- you can see the light kinda gleaming off of that as I tilt it around. Besides that, moving on to the case, the case is a 36 millimeter case from my index finger to my thumb here, that's 36 millimeters in diameter. It is made out of Rolex's in-house made 904L steel, with additional corrosion resistance, high polish on the front sides of the case, the lugs are, in between the lugs we have that sand finish or brushed steel, as you can see at the bottom and at the top. For the side of the case, we have a very beautiful high polish. That pattern is very nicely along the sides of the bracelet, same thing on the other side as well, with the Rolex logo on the crown of the watch. Speaking of the crown, let's go ahead and move on to that. The crown serves very basic features for the Datejust. It is a screw down, twin locked, double waterproof system, and it unscrews counterclockwise as shown. And this first position here, this is the standard position, in which you can, rather the first position, in which you can wind the watch 20-30 times, no more as you don't want to put too much tension on the movement as you might damage it. A simple tug of the crown will set it in the second position which you can adjust the date instantaneously as shown, and the third and final position, keep your eye on the second hand or the hack movement there. As you pull it into the final position, it completely stops that second hand. In this final position, you can adjust the hands bi-directionally, for the stopping of the second hand, that's important if you want to adjust the time exactly down to the second through such things as an atomic clock or your iPhone time, you can adjust it to the exact seconds, and then pressing the crown back in will start that seconds hand once more. Always make sure after you press the crown down screw it nice and tight back in against the case, as it keeps this watch water resistant for 100 meters or 330 feet. Moving on to the bracelet, now. The bracelet, a very beautiful jubilee bracelet made out of five piece links and out of that 904L steel, in-house made steel from Rolex. The outer of the five piece links, the thicker part of the links, you have this beautiful satin finish brushed steel. Down the center of the three piece links you have a nice high polish. The pattern moves nicely throughout the whole bracelet as I turn it around, you can see that pattern keeping throughout. And that pattern is helped because of the clasp, which is located right here with the tiny little Rolex crown, and it's called the concealed folding crown clasp, as you guessed it, it conceals the clasp. As I pop that open, you can see the high polish with the Rolex name embossed into the clasp blade, closing it once more, show you the back of the bracelet, you can see the clasp being hidden right along that bracelet there. As you can see, it curves very nicely along it, so it will fit on the wrist very nicely and very comfortably. All right, moving on to the movement, the movement is housed in the back of this oyster case backing. It's a perpetual, mechanical, self-winding movement, it's Rolex's tried and tested movement, over 10 plus years of a very durable, very great movement. It's the 3135 manufactured by Rolex it has a precision of minus two, plus two seconds a day, which in the COSC specifications. The functions of the center are minute and second hands, instantaneous changing of the date with rapid setting and stopping the second hand as I've shown you with the crown functions, also there is a paramagnetic blue parachrome hairspring, which adds magnetic resistance and a power reserve of 48 hours which is, you can put this watch down on a Friday evening, pick it back up on a Sunday evening, it'll be keeping time just fine. Right, so let me go ahead and show you this watch on my wrist. Once again, with that concealed crown clasp. Go ahead and pop that open. One thing to mention is I do have an average man sized wrist which is a seven and a half inch wrist, or rather a seven inch wrist, as you can see there's a little bit of room on this bracelet so you're looking at a seven and a half inch bracelet. There is the watch on the wrist. As you can see, very beautiful, diamonds really stand out on that black background. Just absolutely gorgeous, that patterning of the jubilee bracelet, just absolutely fits in with the fluted bezel just shine on shine, very very beautiful watch.
