Hey guys, this is Ken from JazTime.com, and today we'll be reviewing the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust 36. The reference number for this watch is 116234. We'll be going over the price, the dial, bezel, case, crown, bracelet, clasp, and we'll talk about the movement towards the end of the video. As of December 2016, you can get this Datejust model at Rolex retailers for $7,950, our you can get it at JazTime for as low as $6,600. Let's go ahead and jump right into the dial now. For the dial, we have a Roman numeraled silver dial, specifically for this Datejust, there's many configurations for it. For the Roman specifically, like I said, we have the silver dial, it also comes in white, black, and blue. If you're not interested in the Roman numerals, there's a simple plain index markers with luminescence that have the dial colors of black, blue, white, silver, and pink. For Arabic, there's only one Arabic choice for this watch, and it's a silver with blue numerals. If you're looking for a more expensive choice, we have the diamond markers as well where the hour markers are fitted with a diamond that's been fashioned in 18 karat white gold. The dial colors that come for the diamond are black, blue, steel, and various colors of mother of pearl. This Datejust a very simple dial as you can see, this has just the Roman numerals, that very nice silver color, as you can see different reflections of the light on it, we have the darker gray when it's not too exposed to the light with the lighter, or probably, sorry, not gray but silver, also for Rolex, they call it a rhodium as well, so it's either silver or rhodium, pretty much the same things. For the date, we have it at the 3:00 position, with face cyclops loading on top for easier viewing. Moving on to the bezel, the bezel is an 18 karat white gold fluted bezel that captures the light very nicely, as you can see, kind of shimmers as the light hits different spots of the bezel. For the case, we have an oyster case, which is made out of a mono block metal case screwed on a case back, and a winding crown. The size of the case is a 36 millimeter case, and that's from my index finger here to my thumb, that's 36 millimeters in diameter. For the side of the case, we have a high polished case, with not too high of a profile, fits very nicely under suit cuffs, just cuffs. For the other side of the case, we have the crown with the Rolex logo on the crown itself there. Additionally, the high polish on this side as well, that matches very nicely with the jubilee bracelet here. As you can see, it has that very nice shine to it. OK. For the bracelet, let's go ahead and review the bracelet now. Bracelet's a very simple jubilee style bracelet made out of five piece links. The three centered links are of a high polished steel with the outer links are being a little bit larger having that nice brushed steel or sand finished steel. Patterns very nicely throughout. As you can see the patterning doesn't really stop anywhere, and that's because of Rolex's very nice concealed folding clam clasp, as you can see right here. Pops open very easily, very nicely. Conceals these two clasp plates that sit underneath the bracelet. For the clasp plates, we have the Rolex name embossed onto the clasp plate itself. As you can see, the embossed name sits on a high polished clasp plate. One thing I want to mention about that is that the clasp plate, the high polished clasp plate wasn't introduced, it was introduced in 2016. This used to be a sort of a sandblasted type of texture to the clasp blade, but now the newer Rolexes that came out with this, with most of the clasps have this high polish instead, which is very nice. For the movement, we have the movement housed in this oyster case, is a perpetual mechanical self-winding in house made by Rolex, caliber 3135 movement. It's one of their longer lasting movements, being almost, I think, longer than 15 years that they've had this 3135 movement, so that's a true testament to the durability and really, the precision of the movement is absolutely stunning. It has a precision of minus two, plus two seconds of gain or loss a day. For the functions of the movement, it has it allows for the hour, minute, second hands and instantaneous changing of the date with rapid setting, and it stops and also allows for the stopping of the seconds hand for precise time setting. For the oscillator, we have a pair of magnetic blue parachrom hairspring, and it winds via a perpetual, bidirectional self winding via perpetual rotor. For the power reserve for this Datejust is actually 48 hours. That 48 hours, you can put this watch down on Friday morning, pick it back up on a Saturday evening, and it'll still keep time very nicely, very precisely as well. OK. OK, so let me go ahead and actually show you this watch on my wrist now. Pop open that folding clasp there. Bam. OK, so there we have it. There's the Datejust there. I really love this silver or that rhodium dial, it's just absolutely stunning against the light, as you can see there, has a very nice silver color to it.
