Today, I'm going to be reviewing the Rolex Datejust 31, reference 278384RBR Aubergine with a Jubilee Bracelet. I'm gonna talk to you guys about the bezel, the dial, the case, the bracelet, the movement, try it on, and then give you my thoughts. So, let's dive right in. So, as I said, at the very beginning, this watch Rolex considers it, considers it, to be steel, diamonds, and white gold. You might be asking yourself, well, what part exactly is steel white, gold, and diamonds? I'll tell you. The bracelet, the case are both made out of steel, but the bezel, which is this little round, the thing that is housing the diamonds, those are made out of white gold. So, they consider this watch a steel, white gold, and diamonds watch, even though most of the watch is steel. Now, the good thing about that of course, is that it doesn't really scratch. I mean, most of it doesn't scratch except for, maybe just this part right at the bezel. And that, even that's kind of hard to scratch. Okay, anyways, so this is for all intensive purposes. This is a steel watch with a purple dial. They call this an Aubergine dial. Aubergine, I never heard of this word before until I started working in this industry, but it's basically purple. I'm trying to show that to you here. And it does look purple. It's a new color by the way. So, yeah, it was pretty cool. This is a 2020 version. I said at the very beginning, this is a reference to 278384. It replaces the old 178384. The difference being that the case is a little bit slimmer. The cases where my fingers are touching. It's where the, ah, lugs are, where the bracelet matches, what the case is a little bit skinnier. That part is, has changed and also has a new movement. I'll get to that in just a second. Okay. And it has a oyster case and it's 31 millimeters from my thumb to my index finger, thumb to index finger. That's 31 millimeters. They make this watch in 28. They make Datejust, I should say, in 30, 28, 31 and 36 for ladies or 34 actually. And this being 31 is right in the middle. Also known as a mid-size. It's the most popular size, obviously because it's mid, it's medium, medium being the most popular size for women, is it's both big and enough so that you can read it, but not too big enough to where it becomes cumbersome and hence its popularity as being the most popular size of Datejust. And they have a lot of these and we sell a lot of them. And by the way, we make these video. Okay. It's a model block, middle case with a screw down case back and winding crown. I told you that 31 millimeters Rolex calls, material white rolesor, which is a combination of oyster steel and 18 karat yellow gold, basically, as I said, oh sorry, white gold. Basically, as I said, it's stainless steel, which is what I'm touching right here. The case, the only thing that is not is these diamonds. Okay. Now let's talk about the bezel here. The Bessel is quite fancy. In fact, it's so fancy. It has diamonds on it, which is what gives it this really high retail, expensive value, and also luxurious expensive look. This bezel is diamonds. Let me see if I can show you what a normal bezel is. Normally this watch would come, If you want to get it in the base model, it would come and it will look like this. That would be the domed bezel. This bezel right here Is a stainless steel bezel. It's I wouldn't say cheap, but it's certainly not expensive. It's not made of precious material. And that's what it would look like. It totally changes the look of this watch. If you add obviously diamonds, Ka-pow, it looks like a million bucks. In fact, it looks like 16,050 bucks for the retail value, at least as of 2020. And of course you can buy it at a discount or ah, at jaztime.com. If you can't get it at a discount, well, at least we can get it for you. That's more to say than many other dealers who can't even get the products. So anyways, yeah, that's what it is. The bezel has, I don't know exactly how many diamonds I want to say 52. I'm not really sure, but you can maybe count them there yourself, or you can buy this watch, then count them yourself. But anyways, it's a diamond bezel and that, and that's what gives it this high price tag. Okay. Let's move on. I talk to you about the case of the bezel. I told you about the dial it's aubergine it's a purple. And what I can not tell you also about this dial is if you look at the six o'clock position, you see that upside down six, what is, what is, what do you notice about that? If you look really carefully, it's actually more diamonds. Okay? It's pave diamonds which, the watch is already so spectacular to begin with, but it's even more spectacular that it has these diamonds paved at the six o'clock position. And what I can also tell you about this dial. I'm trying to hold it in different lights so that you can see, it's actually a sunburst dial. What does that mean? It means that in different, it's not flat purple, not flat aubergine in different lights, it looks different as in it looks lighter and darker. I hope you can see that if you can't well by the watch, you can see it yourself. Okay. So and, and, let's move on. Now we're talking about the bracelet. The bracelet comes in either one of two, ah, ah, models in either the Jubilee or the oyster. This one's Jubilee is five link piece across. As you can see from here. Now, people have asked me which one would popular. I would probably say the Jubilee's more popular, but that doesn't mean that it's better. Like a red Ferrari is more popular than let's say a white one, but that doesn't mean it's better. Some people don't want to be having a red Ferrari. So it just kind of depends. But anyways, that's the question. Okay. It has a concealed folding crown class that hasn't changed from the out, from the out, the outgoing model. It's exactly the same. I don't know that you could switch bracelets though, between the older model. I'm not really sure about that, but okay. Anyhow, let's talk about the movement. The movement used to be a 2, 2, 3, 5, and now it's a 2, 2, 3, 6, it's precise to plus minus two seconds a day. And it has a power reserve of 55 hours. Okay. So basically this one has a better movement. It has a newer case. I'm trying to get my, my fingerprints off. They're going to wipe it real quick. I'm just going for just a second. Okay. Wipe off the fingerprints. And there you go. Okay. Anyhow, I think I've talked to you about every single part of it. Now I want to try it on and keep in mind.
