Today, we'll be taking a look at quite an interesting watch, this one, the Panerai Submersible Bronzo Blu Abisso. In other words, the reference number PAM01074 or PAM 1074. However you want to say it. It's basically the Bronzo from this year, 2021. And, finally, quite interesting, intriguing and all the more very highly desirable. Although Panerai have in recent years generally cooled off, this one remains hot and for good reason. I'll be going over all those reasons, the case, the bezel, the dial, the crown functions, as well as the movement and this nice canvas strap with ecru stitching. All right? So, again, I'll be going over all of these features and why it's so desirable. All right? So starting off with the case, we have a 42-millimeter case. That's basically from the two o'clock to eight o'clock position, a little bit difficult to measure physically, but you can see basically at the edges of this cushion, sort of rounded edge portion of the case from the two o'clock to eight o'clock, same as the ten to four o'clock. We have an overall nice set-and-brush finishing to all of this red-gold or pink-gold. Basically, well actually, you would think that that's what it is, but it's actually bronze. Hell, it's part of the name, the Bronzo, it's all bronze with a set-and-brush finishing. The only high-polished portions really being on the bezel for the numeral indicators there for say the 30-, 15-, 45-minute intervals, as well as just the tiniest portions of the knurling of the unidirectional bezel, which by the way, just sounds absolutely gorgeous. Let me move it closer to the microphone. Sounds absolutely beautiful. And actually, this may be my favorite sound for a unidirectional bezel and very chunky, it is. And that's so you don't acc- there's no mistake when you rotate this around. And when it comes to the overall presentation here, absolutely stunning because what you have here is when you get this, only from boutiques, by the way, when you get this, it'll be all this nice, brilliant yellow, this bright, bronze color with a very deep blue, almost like a matte surfacing for that dial. When you take a look at that, it doesn't actually reflect directly, but it rather disperses the light and makes it very easy to read from just about any angle. The only drawback to that would be the sort of bubble type of Sapphire crystal on the very front. Not that that's a drawback, really, it's really preserving the history and the model shape of the Panerai Submersible here on this one. Now, all of this with the casing gives you a 300-meter or 1000-foot ISO standardized and certified water resistance. So, basically, you can take this deep diving and when it comes to that, you can basically see this quite nicely under water with all that luminescence there. The seconds hand nicely lit up, as well as the hour and minute hand set. You know it's certainly running with that zero marker on the bezel, makes it very easy to make it into your impromptu 15-minute timer. Just set it there, wait for the minute hand to- my focusing point is somewhere where is my focusing point? There it is. Okay, nicely centered. There we go. And once you have that minute hand moving a quarter past that diving pearl, nice and easy to measure your decompression stops, right? And there's more functionality to this bezel, by the way, because while those 15 minutes are the most crucial when you're measuring your decompression stops under water, when you're coming back up, it can also be very helpful when setting the time. Because, as you can see, we do have the small seconds hand at the nine o'clock position, but otherwise, no minute markers. Well, here are your minute markers. So just simply set to any of the cardinal directions, the 12, 3, 6 or 9, and you can set the time rather easily as is standard with many Panerais. You do have the extensive crown guard here with the lever system, so that there's no mistake when you need to close it. There you have that superior water ceiling there. When you open it up, very easy to set and forget, basically. You can wind the watch at the base position just once you have the lever open, nice and easy, right. Pull it out to the next position. Actually let me move the minute hand a bit there. All right. So if you pull it out to the second position, actually let me do this properly. Pull out to the next position, you have the quick set for that date. It's about a full half-turn. So, not a full turn an entire half-turn of that crown to advance the date by one. So again, you can't really mistake- you can't make a mistake by accidentally setting the date forward because there was just a quarter turn or something. It takes deliberate effort. And speaking of which, deliberate effort taken, when you pull the crown out all the way, you can see that you have the hacking seconds function there. So, when you have the ability to actually set the time properly, when you know which sort of 15-minute interval your minute hand would be in, just simply set the diamond Pearl to the beginning of that 15-minute interval, because you can then use those 15 minutes to actually set the minute hand precisely based on the position of that seconds hand. So, somewhere a little bit past the halfway point, there we go. And once you have time set nicely and easily, you can close that lever, starts up that seconds hand, gives you that superior water ceiling, and you're nice on time. All right. So what makes all this work on the inside is the movement, the P900 caliber, 12 and a half lines, 4.2 millimeters thick with 23 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour, or, you know, the words for Hertz. You also have the Incabloc anti-shock resistance with a power reserve of basically 72 hours, that's three whole days. And, thankfully Panerai has sort of preserved that ability to look through the back of the case here with that Sapphire crystal as well. Nice and flat, as you can see in the reflection of my light box there, but you can see all the details in there of this movement, incredibly beautiful, very nicely queue of shade patterning on that movement. And you can certainly see no detail is spared when it comes to the overall workmanship of this movement. Incredibly beautiful and very precise. Altogether, one barrel with 171 components. And, also while I'm zoomed out here, you can see that this does have what they call a Scamosciato Blue or in other words, basically a canvas blue strap here with ecru stitching, right? 22 millimeters across at the lugs and 20 millimeters across at the ends here. And we also have a matching bronze buckle with Panerai's letter-form logo, or not letter-form, word mark logo going across there. It's a nice pin buckle system. And while I'm here, I'll try it on and give you my thoughts as to how it wears on my wrist. And this is ultimately the reason why this one has remained hot, because not only is the production limited to a thousand per year making this a pseudo limited-edition model, the bronze and the blue, and especially the size, make it extremely wearable for more people, because the original version of the Bronzo made this a 47-millimeter watch. Who can wear a 47-millimeter watch? Well, Arnold Schwarzenegger Shaquille O'Neal, that's about it, and maybe Andre the giant. Okay, so maybe three people could wear that, but honestly, who would be able to wear a 47-millimeter watch? 42-millimeters makes far more sense. And with just above 14 millimeters in thickness, I dare say you could actually still wear this as a dress watch. It will slide very nicely under a jacket sleeve. As you can see, I do have a jacket on. And, it could actually fit a little bit tightly, but still fit under a suit cuff. Very elegant in it's design. Yellow and blue being complimentary colors gives you that very nice color scheme that just pops and looks good in terms of both the visual wrist presence, but also the physical wrist presence, because it's a Panorai, you're gonna get something big because it's obviously a big watch, but not overly gigantic as most models are, this one probably being one of the smaller, but that makes it more desirable because more people can wear it. And when you have the stitching here or rather, the straps here, a little bit of space between the lugs here and the sort of casing spacing between that of the strap, gives you plenty of wrist venting. So you can still actually wear this throughout the day. It feels very comfortable on the wrist, feels very nice on the outside as well. And when it comes to that bronze, keep in mind, bronze does patina quite easily. And as you can see here, there is kind of a little bit of a patina on that bezel already, just from even my own handling of this watch. And just examining it before starting this video. And you can see a little bit on this buckle as well, but basically this watch is so person- is so elegant in that designing that you can basically wear this and have it become yours. Because every watch that leaves the production line and goes into the hands of each individual customer will basically patina on its own and have its own specific patterns of coloration based on the wearing capabilities of each person. And so, you know, that sort of patina does lend itself to being, you know, very customizable in that aspect. Granted, you won't see it for many months, if not even years, but you know, certainly something to look out for, something that really makes it quite personable or personalized in that aspect. And, basically the desirability, the limited production every year of only a thousand pieces per year makes this again, a highly desirable Panorai, even though, not a Rolex, not an Audemars Piguet, not a Patek Philippe, but Panorai, their own sort of extremely limited and highly desirable model on sale now, as well here at JazTime.
