- [Reviewer] Welcome to JazTime.com Today we're gonna be reviewing the Panerai Hygrometer PAM 584. We're gonna go through a few things, such as the price, where you can buy it, and dimensions, and a few special qualities. Let's dive right in. The price, as of November 2016, is $4,000 dollars retail, but you can buy it at JazTime.com, that's J-A-Z-T-I-M-E dot com, for $3,500 dollars. So let's start with the dimensions, as I stated. It's 14 centimeters by 14 centimeters. As you can see here, 14 centimeters, or five and a half inches. It's like a square, so, it's the same going up and down as left to right, as you can see. The side profile here is roughly an inch and three quarters, or about four and a half, five centimeters. And, what is kinda special about this, other than it's a Hygrometer, and you're probably asking yourself, well, what is a hygrometer? It actually measures the humidity. Now, this is a percentage, zero to 100. So, it was used, or is used, to determine what the likelihood of rain is. In a rainy condition, this would be at 100. So, it detects the humidity in the air. And, at the moment, in this room that I'm sitting, this air conditioned room, it's no surprise that it's at roughly 40. So, when it's raining, and this is outside, presumably, this would be at roughly 100. Okay, or in a very arid, dry condition, it would be closer to this zero. So, this gives you the likelihood of what it's like to, for rain. And, let's go ahead and talk about some of the materials. Now this, why would you wanna buy a $3,500 dollar hygrometer? Well, part of it is the build. It's an excellent build quality. I'm holding it in my hand and it's very heavy, and that's because it uses AISI 316L steel. That's Panerai's official steel that they use, it's highly resistant to corrosion, it's hypoallergenic. That means you have no problem touching this. Some people are allergic to the stainless steel, but this one really is hypoallergenic. It's not gonna give you that issue. And, it also is special because the alloy, the steel alloy, has a chromium content of 16 to 18%. It has a nickel content of about 11 to 14%, and the molybdenum concentration of about 2 to 3%.
