Introduced in 1957, the Omega Speedmaster range has a storied history and was initially designed as a line of sports... watches. However, despite being constructed to meet the requirements of race car drivers and military pilots, the timepieces soon became associated with space exploration. In 1969, a manual-wind Speedmaster Professional owned by Buzz Aldrin became the first watch ever worn on the surface of the moon. Although the Speedmaster Professional, or 'Moonwatch', is the best-known model in the collection, many variations exist such as the Speedmaster Racing, which comes with a 'tachymeter' feature, enabling wearers to accurately measure speed, and many others.
