Today I'm gonna be reviewing the IWC Pilot's Watch Automatic 36, reference IW324007. Gonna talk to you about the case, the bezel, the dial, the band, the movement, try it on and give you my thoughts. So let's dive right in. As the name implies, this watch is 36 millimeters. It's on the small end of a man's size watch. 36 millimeter. The smallest I've seen is about 34. So if you don't have a huge wrist, this would be a decent watch. It has 36 millimeters going this direction in diameter. What I also like about it is it has a very thin profile at only 10.4 millimeters. By contrast, a Rolex Datejust is about almost 12 millimeters. So the thinness of it, it keeps it at a low profile on your wrist. And the watch is made of stainless steel. It has a screw-down crown and a water resistance of six bars or 60 meters, or if you're in feet, that's 180 feet. So it's a lot. It's a lot of feet. Wait, six times three, no, I don't know, how many is six meters? Six meters times three is 18 feet. Isn't that right? Okay, anyways, now the dial is silver plated with luminescent. Now, let's take a look at what that luminescent looks like. You see it's high legible. It has a triangle at the top and you can see the hour and minute hand. Easily viewable at night time in my opinion. I forget to mention, it also has a date feature, as you can see, at the 3 o'clock position. Very useful if you don't always know what the date is, which most people don't. Now, moving on to the movement, the movement is an automatic movement thankfully, powered by a 35111 caliber movement with a 42-hour power reserve of frequency of 28,800 hertz and 163 components with 25 joules, okay? So it's a pretty fancy movement basically. It's great. It's an IWC movement actually. So let's move on to the strap. As you can see here, it's aligator leather by Santoni. A strap width of 18 millimeters, and that makes sense because well, 40-millimeter watches have a millimeter size of 20 millimeters. This being 36, it should have one a little bit smaller. Now, I don't wanna get into ethics of things but I can just say that looking at it in my hand right here, I think this aligator strap is really cool. I really like it. Sorry about that, alligators but your skin looks amazing. Now, let's move on to the next thing, which is what else can we say about this watch that makes it special? Well, it has a soft iron inner case for protection against magnetic fields. For example, have you guys heard of the Milgauss in Rolex? They have like a double case. This one actually has a double case. It's a soft iron inner case. I didn't take this off but I see that on their website. I don't wanna take this one off 'cause this one's brand new but suffice it to say, I'm pretty sure they're not lying. So that's one of the cool features it has. So if you walk through an MRI with this watch on, it would still work. The glass is secured by a displacement in drop in air pressure. I don't know what that means. But anyways, it has a sapphire glass with a convex anti-reflective coating on both sides. I do know what that means. That means that this sapphire crystal is not completely flat. It's a little bit curved and it has anti-reflection. That means when I turn it into these different shades, you can still see it. You can see it straight on, you can also see it to its side. Now, I guess I can make some comments about the watch since I have it in my hand. I think the polish job is done quite nice. I've been rotating it so that you guys can see. It's brushed here, it's polished there, it's thin. And just to give you a few words of what I think about the watch, well, I like thin watches because thin watches don't get in the way of things. And I just think that a thin watch is very, very practical for someone who's gonna wear the watch all the time. And it's not very heavy. Now, I'm wearing it. I'm an average-sized male and 36 does not look too small on me. In fact, it looks really good on me. So I think this is a great size. Not everybody wants to wear a massive watch and so I think 36 millimeters is a really good size.
