Today, we'll be doing a little unboxing of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore chronograph selfwinding, reference number 26331ST.OO.122ST.02. So opening the box. Here we have, the watch right here. Around the pillow with all the manufacturer stickers. Set the box to the side here, and the removal of the stickers is rather easy. Just start from any end either end. Comes off nice and clean, as well as the bezel protector. They're a bit tight, but once it comes off, shines like a dream. And don't forget the other side that protects the case back. The inner bracelet, be sure to deploy it first, like I didn't do. Remove the stickers from each side. And also from the middle portion on the double deployment clasp. All right. And well done. All right. So now let's get into the review portion. This is a two-tone dial design, launched as part of their 20th anniversary. The dial is a black Grand Tapisserie with a 41 millimeter diameter from finger to thumb and its made of titanium it's only 11 millimeters thick, and the entire case is water resistant down to 50 meters. The back is a closed case back as you can see with the Royal Oak logo, the right side with the signature AP winding crown with the chrono pushers for nice sleek interval timekeeping. The crystal is a transparent, scratch-resistant sapphire, so there is no fear of suit threads or buttons damaging the crystal. The bezel is octagonal in shape brushed on top, polished on the sides. And the sub dials on here are actually silver, which helps them really pop out against the black Grand Tapisserie dial. The seconds hand is at the six o'clock position, date between the four and five o'clock positions and the chronograph features 30 minutes and 12 hour dials at the three o'clock and nine o'clock positions respectively. The bracelet is also, much like the case made of steel brushed on top, and on the sides, but also as a high polish along the vertices, giving them a nice glowing look and presentation to them. All right, this clasp is a double deployment clasp so simply press on either side, and it opens up, nicely. The most important part of this time piece, is the movement. The selfwinding caliber 2385, 26.2 to 26.2 millimeters or 11 and a half lines. A balance wheel frequency of three Hertz or 21,600 vibrations per hour, monoblock and 18 karat gold, 37 jewels annular balanced spring with unidirectional automatic winding totaling to 304 parts each. And with only 40 hours of power reserve. So be sure to keep this, on your wrist, at least every other day to make sure that it is wound properly. So note that the 11 millimeters is actually a very good fit for my wrist, as it fits nicely under any long sleeve. And also, let's go over the basic, time setting and also the date and the chronograph features for this. If I need to set the time, simply unwind the crown. This first position allows you to wind the watch. Second position, changes the date when you rotate, the crown clockwise only goes forward, which is fine. It feels very satisfying. And the final position, allows you to move the minute hand. Be sure to push the crown all the way in, and screw it back against the case, to maintain that 50 meter water resistance. Those who are new to Audemars Piguet and other coronagraph devices, the top button works as you would expect. You start the, what would be typically the seconds hands but is actually in this case, the chronograph hand, which follows the same exact speed as that of the seconds hand at the six o'clock position. You can press it again to stop, and press the bottom to reset it back to the 12 o'clock position. So who is this watch for? Obviously for someone with an appreciation for texture, as well as utility. Someone who needs to keep track of time and is busy around the clock would like to reference to today's date while also looking absolutely stunning and stylish. And for collectors, this is a higher end model, with an absolute must for those who are interested in getting into the Royal Oak line and even the Royal Oak Offshore line. Granted not as high level of a model as say the rose gold and pink gold variations of Audemars Piguet Royal Oak chronograph, but still this is a good entry piece. So what are your thoughts on this timepiece? Does the dial color seem a little too dark? Is it too monochromatic for you? Or does it fit your style just right?
