If you want to know the price of the watch, simply click on the links in the description below. We'll greatly appreciate it if you buy a watch from jaztime.com once in a while. Today, we'll be reviewing the Rolex Day-Date 36. This is the model number 118238. We'll be going over the dial, bezel, case, crown, bracelet, clasp. And we'll talk about the movement towards the end of the video. All right so, jumping right into the dial, the dial configuration I currently have in my hand here is the diamond hour markers with champagne Sunburst dial, because as you can see very beautiful sunburst feature as it causes the dials to sort of capture light in a nice contrasting way. You can see it look darker with the champagne shadows versus the highlights of the champagne shadow. And it sort of radiates in a sort of circular motion as you can see, as I sort of shifted around the light, shifted around against my light source here. So, very beautiful dial. Of course, the Day-Date also comes in other dial colors as well. I believe it also comes on a white and black as well. But specifically for this Day-Date model, the 118238 this has actually been discontinued. There is a newer style of the 36 models, which we'll have links to in the description below. But this is the older style 118238. And even though it's been discontinued, here at jaztime.com we can still find you this specific model if you're interested in it. So, give us a call if you're interested. But otherwise, it's a 36 millimeter Day-Date President watch, the day being at the 12 o'clock position, date being at the three o'clock position. Diamond hour markers, we're back at diamonds at the six and nine o'clock position. These all fashioned in 18 carat yellow gold, along with the hands are solid gold, 18 carat yellow gold hands as well. So, there's no luminosity on this face for the watch making it more of a day wear if you plan on, if you don't plan on reading the time at night, you can wear at night as well, but it will be a little bit harder to read without a light source. But besides that, it just falls out the typical Day-Date structure. As I mentioned, day at the 12 o'clock, date at the three o'clock, and then the hour markers, okay? Well, the thing to notice about the dial is the railroading at the very outer edge of the dial. You can see it has a little railroad track to sort of break the monotony of just having just all champagne dial, champagne on gold and gold on gold. That even just the little block texts from the face of the watch, Rolex's professional Day-Date name, Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified, and even the railroading with Roman numerals at each hour marker as well. It just really helps break this sort of just all champagne coloring, and adds a nice little contrast overall to the face of the watch. All right, moving on to the bezel now. The bezel is just a simple 18 carat yellow gold fluted bezel, very similar to this sort of Sunburst dials as you can see, tilting it against my light source as you can see, various darker shadows on parts of the fluted bezel versus more highlighted areas. Of course this is pretty highlighted at the moment just because I have so many, there is so many different light sources in my light box here. And that's just a very simple bezel, flute bezel to pair very nicely with elegance of of the dial, okay? Moving on to the case now, as I mentioned, the case is, rather the model is a Day-Date 36. This is a 36 millimeter case. So, from my index finger to my thumb here is 36 millimeters in diameter. From the previous iteration, which is the 18238, they basically sort of bulked out the case a little bit more. So, you have a little bit of a thicker case, a little bit of half of a profile, but also it's just all in complete proportion as well. So, very beautiful. It's just a little bit bigger, but it looks correct in these proportions. So, it doesn't look just like a large head and ends at sort of jerky strap. Everything is nicely, nicely tuned. You can see very beautiful high polishing on the case, high polishing on the lugs as well as the lugs are a little bit thicker than in previous iteration. You can see top of lugs as well. Just want to show you how it looks, then see high polish on the side. Of course, the case is gonna be a little bit bigger in general, just cause the movement as well, it's a little bit more complications, of course having the ability to use the day and the date features. So, it's gonna of course, command a little bit bigger of a case size than your typical Rolex watch. You can see here's the crown logo right here on the crown itself with two little dinanseas. And that basically signals that this watch is a twinlock double waterproofness system. So, it has a water resistance of the standard Rolex resistance of 100 meters or 330 feet of water resistance. I'm gonna move on to the crown functions now. Obviously, I want the crown counterclockwise. Pulling in the crown in this current position allows you to wind your watch about 15 to 20 clockwise turns. It's all you need to get the watch started once more. Pulling the crown out to the next position will allow you to adjust the day and the date, separate from each other. Let me just move this hand out of the way so you can actually see the date. So, once again, standard position, one pull, and then you can go clockwise, or counterclockwise to get the day to change. So, I'm just gonna set it to some arbitrary date, so let's say it's Monday, so let's set it to Monday. And then we have the date at the three o'clock position. You just go kind of you go clockwise. Say it's the 20th, 29th. And then see very quick, very easy to use feature. And of course in the final position will allow you to adjust the hands bi-directionally as shown. So, you can set the time however you like. Of course, there's also the stopping of the seconds hand, the Hackney movement that allows for precise time setting such as 10 o'clock online. You can set it down to the exact seconds. And as you see, as I press the crown back in, seconds hand starts once more. And then screw the crown nice and tight against the case, as once again, you want to keep your water resistance of 100 meters or 330 feet. The crown must be tight and screwed in against the case. You can not have this crown open. All right, moving onto the bracelet now. Of course, it's the Day-Date watch, so, we're looking at a President solid bracelet. Now, it's basically the President, sort of President solid bracelet, sort of mixed match between the Oyster solid bracelet and Jubilee solid bracelet. We have half semicircular links, nicely high-polished in the sides, brush finish on the outer of the three-piece links, mirror finish down the center matching with a nice contrasting powder from high polish from the lugs to the brush finish back to mirror, brush finish and back to mirror again. So, contrasting of that really helps each other, brings the best out of both worlds. And you can see the Jubilee bracelet just continues throughout the whole bracelet of the watch. Very beautiful tapering from the first link down, once again keeping those proportions in mind. So, it looks nice and in proportion when it sits on your wrist. It doesn't just look like an overly large head. But then, again, at 36 millimeter, isn't that large of a watch in general? So, for 36 millimeter, I mean, it's really the sort of unisex option you can choose, either a man can wear it, a guy with a smaller wrist can wear this, or even a lady with a larger wrist can wear it. I mean, it's really up to you. If you're looking for more of a unisex option, then the Day-Date 36 might be the watch for you as that sizing is sort of this sweet spot before sizings. But otherwise, back to the bracelet, you can see that at the very back the pattern is only broken up by one thing, and that's this Rolex crown over here. This is called the Rolex concealed folding Crownclasp, basically hides the clasp behind the bracelet. And you can see it's beautifully high polished clasp right there with the Rolex's name embossed on there. And then closing it up, brings out beautiful pattern back again. And there we are. So, moving on to the movement now, the movement is housed in this oyster style case packing. Nice hand finish on the very top edge of it. Offer a nice boring high polish on the back. The movement itself, it's a frenzy 30, keeps it's tried and tested movement for over three decades. It's a 3155 movement which a previous model would use. I believe the newer models now will use a 3255, but this one runs a 3155. So, it's a sort of an in-house made movement by Rolex, has a precision to my plus two seconds a day. Once again, they boast about it here at the six o'clock position with a Superlative Chronometer officially certified as Rolex does double test their movement to keep it within the Swiss specs. Swiss specs typically is minus four plus six seconds a day, but Rolex goes above and beyond and tries to keep it in the minus two, plus two seconds a day. Specifically for the movement itself has just, like I said, this has additional complication of being able to adjust or have the day complication, but also being to adjust both of those on just a single crown functions. So, of course, you're gonna, once again, you have that little bit larger of a case size than you would typically see for a watch of the size. But other than that, the really the most important thing is the power reserve. I mean, that's the only thing that really affects the person wearing this watch. So, if you decide to put this watch down on a Friday evening, you can pick it back up on a Sunday afternoon or Sunday evening, it will be keeping time just fine as I believe the powers of all this watch is about a 48-hour power reserve. So, what that means is basically, it is an automatic watch. If you don't know how automatic watches work, they takes that inertia from your wrist using the oscillator and keeps the watch wound as you're using your natural wrist movements. But if you do decide to go to sleep, take it off, put it down for the weekend, then the watch does stop eventually from the natural movements of your wrist. So then, either, you can either spend some money, get a watch winder to keep your watch wound, or you can just contiously, you can pick up your watch before the powers runs out, which is which I said 48 hours. Put the watch back on and walk around with it, and it'll be keeping time just fine once more. All right. So let me try this watch on my wrist so I can show you how this looks. I do have an average man-sized wrist of a seven-inch wrist. Like I said, this is a great choice for both sexes, so men and women. 36 millimeters, not too big. You can see it doesn't look... It doesn't look too large on my wrist, but it doesn't look too small either. Once again, very beautiful bracelet, that President solid bracelet with a semi-circular links, and a very beautiful used is just high polished Sunburst dial. And of course the most luxurious, this is one of the most luxurious options being the diamond hour markers with the baguette diamonds on the six and nine. All right, so, here's a side profile. So, you can see how high that kind of sits off the wrist. So, even though it has a little bit larger case size, it really doesn't sit that high off the wrist. So, will fit under those suit cuffs just very nicely. So, if you're interested in this watch, or any other watch for lowest possible price, check our website @jaztime.com.
