Today we'll be taking a look at the Panerai Luminor Marina. This one made with eSteel, new and announced in 2021, now in our hands in early 2022. Not too many of these on the market at the moment, but we can still get them should you desire one. This one, the reference number PAN 0 1 3 5 6, or the PAN 1356, also known as the Luminor Marina eSteel, Verde Smeraldo, or in other words, green emerald. I'll be going over the aspects of this watch, the case, the bezel, dial, the crown functions as well as this nice crown guard, the movement and this lovely green strap. And I'll be giving my thoughts on these throughout this video, for what it's worth. So starting off with the case, from finger to thumb it's the two o'clock to eight o'clock positions or the 10 to four o'clock positions. You have the same 44 millimeter with the case size being you know, the sort of sandwich case as well. Almost like a cushion size, gives at 44 millimeters, nice and big on the wrist. You certainly have that wide stance giving it that full, what they call the "wrist presence", in terms of the size for this watch. Altogether, this one is made out of polished and set and brush finished eSteel. What is eSteel? It's printed on the dial, what is that? That basically means that about 58, somewhere between 58 and 59% of the entire casing here, the entire assembly of this steel is actually recycled steel and part of Panerai's basically, sustainability initiative, where they're trying to basically go fully carbon neutral and good on them. Sort of what you'd expect from these smaller watch brands, anyone outside of say Rolex or Patek Philippe, or Audemars Piguet, for example. These smaller brands basically pushing forward with better measures and just interesting little aspects, that make them quite appealing. And in this aspect, you have that sustainability part of that all again. In the casing here, as you can see, nice sand brushed finish on that steel, with a very, very interesting concentric finish on the back, as you would see here. Also stamped with the eSteel logo there. All right, so we have the case size there, the bezel, same thing, although nicely high polished, complete with my fingerprints, of course, but also eSteel, meaning that is nice and recycled and still no less durable than what you'd expect from a typical Panerai. Now taking a look here at the dial, you also notice that we do have this sort of khaki green color of this dial, but not just that, but also sort of like this gradient, that starts about just under half of way down the dial, below the date aperture and the small seconds, at the nine o'clock you have a gradient, going from that sort of mid-tone green all the way down to a full jet-black, just underneath that six o'clock position. Quite interestingly, I would say referencing the sort of look of what deep diving looks like, and when it comes to the water resistance for this watch, 30 bar or about 300 meters below sea level, or a thousand feet below sea level. You'll certainly get this sort of look as you dive, deep down into the depths, as this watch is made to do. You also have the sandwich dial, meaning that you have not just a dial on the front, meaning you have this nice color look here, but also laser etched and cut out portions for the 12, six and nine, the Arabic numerals, the index hour marks for the rest and for that date aperture, nicely and precisely cut out, so you have a full disc underneath with the luminescence. So if I turn out the lights here, you can actually see it glows very brightly, as you have not only the marks themselves being luminescent, but also more of the disc to really supply more of that light sort of through those little apertures in the dial. And also, the minute and hour hands nicely luminescent as well, as well as the small seconds, with the tip of its hand also glowing bright green. Let's turn the lights back on here, and we can take a look at the functionality of this watch. Now basically, you get a Panerai, you know what you're looking at, even if I cover up the entire face and just showed you the crown guard, you would know that is a Panerai, because, well, it's the only brand to give you such a full crown guard that covers basically, the entire crown minus the sides, of course. So if you lower the guard there, you can wind the watch at the base position. So if you're at a dead stop, about 20 to 30 full winds gets you to the full power reserve. Rather simple there, pull it out to the next position, you can advance the hour hand by one, each little tick there. And by extension, you can also change the date forward or backward. It gives you that sort of a semi GMT feel to it, so doing so will not actually affect that seconds hand, so you can keep the time basically consistent wherever you are, if you happen to be changing time zones. Also, pull the crown out to the final position. Note that the seconds hand continues to move, and if you move the minute hand backwards, you can actually stop or slightly move that seconds hand back, so you can actually synchronize it up to an atomic clock. Once you've got it ready, you can synchronize that up that synchronize that seconds hand up and then just simply move the minute hand forward, to wherever you happen to be, let's say around 10 minutes or so after the hour. And once you're done with that, you can press, simply close the crown guard entirely, to get it nicely and precise and ensure that superior water resistance. Also taking a look at the feel of this winding crown, newly added to this model, or at least this generation of models. You have a rubber outer portion to that crown, so it gives a little bit more give, but also much more grip as you turn that crown, as required. Now, taking a look here at the movement, basically what all this work, it is the automatic mechanical P 9010 caliber or 9010, made in-house by Panerai. You also have the 13 and three quarters lines, six millimeter thick, 31 joules, 200 components total, giving you basically, a three day power reserve, up to 72 hours. You can't see through the case back, but you do have that solid steel, to give you that added piece of mind, knowing that it's nice and safe in there. You also have a Glucydur balance, with anti-shock device, an Incabloc, and also a 28,800 vibration per hour movement there. So you have the utmost accuracy of that seconds hand, even though you'll have to be looking very closely at it to get it fully accurate and fully precise, but so accurate, that basically you are precise with your time keeping ability. And basically, with the 72 hour power reserve, you can set it down on a Friday evening, pick it back up Monday morning, the following week, no need to wind the watch, just simply put it on your wrist, and the natural movements of your wrist will allow the internal winding rotor to actually wind the main spring barrel, which then charges the power reserve again, for 72 hours at a time. So incredibly good and durable from Panerai. Now while I'm zoomed out here, you can also see that this strap is not just a rubber strap but it is a recycled PET, or polyethylene terephthalate strap here, entirely recycled in a, you know, that same military green khaki green color, with a tiny bit of leather, also responsibly sourced as well. A little bit of leather on the the underside, to give it a nice luxurious feel on the wrist. Made with 24 millimeters at the lug to lug, or between lugs, down to 22 millimeters, down at the very end, a basic standard size for the strap. And as I showed you at the very beginning of the video, on the wrist, while my wrist being seven inches in circumference, makes this watch all kind of big, because, well, it is 44 millimeters, you're not getting it because it's nice and easy to wear, you're getting it because you have the, well basically what's, it's in the name, the Panerai. You're getting something that's big on the wrist, has that wrist presence and something that you can certainly dive with, with that water resistance down to 300 meters below sea level. Makes it very easy to wear in those highly weathered situations. And looking at it straight down the wrist here, the lugs curve downward just slightly enough, so if you do even have a flatter wrist, it will still hug very nicely. The straps conforming to just about any wrist size, so I can recommend this to anyone with even down to six inches in circumference, you can still wear this quite comfortably, all the way up to maybe even 10 inches in circumference, if you were wearing this on your leg, for example. And looking at it straight on, incredibly easy to read because of that high contrast between that sort of almost darker of the mid-tone, sort of the darker, mid-tone, almost a shade of green and all the way down to a jet-black at the very bottom, makes it very easy to read, incredibly stylish as well. And something that you don't really see very frequently within the Luminor line, the Marina line, at least from Panerai. That nice gradient gives it a little bit extra to look at, and certainly, with the retail value being about, I believe it's 8,700, at least, as of the making of this video, I'm sure the market price will judge itself based on that quite well. And with the market going crazy, it's just best to check in the links down below for the price. We'll update that once we get an order in, but anyway, that's all I have to say about this watch.
