4 Reasons NEVER to Sell Your Rolex to a Pawn Shop

Rolex Luxury Swiss Watches Pawn Shop Untrustworhy Blog Review

There are a number of reasons why Rolex owners may be tempted to sell their timepiece to a pawn shop. It may be, for example, that you desperately need cash and feel it is the quickest option. Alternatively, perhaps you do not have the box and papers any more and feel a pawn shop is your best hope of actually selling it at all.

The sale of Rolex watches to pawn shops is becoming more common and while the thought process behind this is understandable, it is actually very unlikely to be the best option available. In this article, we take a look at four of the most important reasons why you should never sell your Rolex, or any other luxury watch, to a pawn shop.

Dark Rhodium Dial Datejust 41 – Buying Guide

Rolex Datejust 41 dark rhodium buying guide review
Rolex Datejust 41 dark rhodium buying guide review (view price list)

The aesthetics of the Rolex Datejust 41 is timeless. The Datejust is one of the Rolex models with the most history behind it. Compared to the Oyster-Perpetual the Date with Cyclops Lens has a big impact on the face of the timepiece. As you might know, Rhodium is a corrosion resistant precious metal in the platinum group of metals. But it is almost twice as expensive as Platinum (see price chart). Since the Rolex Datejust is a perfect specimen of a classic dress watch, you can wear the dark rhodium Datejust 41 to all occasions. The dark rhodium fits many classic color combinations. It does not fit to yellow or rose-gold however. That’s why Rolex does not offer the Datejust 41 rhodium dial with pink- or yellow-gold models.

Bezel: 904L Stainless Steel smooth vs White-Gold fluted

Rolex Datejust 41 dark rhodium - smooth steel bezel vs fluted white gold bezel
Rolex Datejust 41 dark rhodium – smooth steel bezel vs fluted white gold bezel (compare prices)

You can choose a full 904L Stainless Steel Datejust 41 with a dark rhodium dial. These very robust models have a smooth domed bezel around the face of the watch. Since the special Rolex steel is very hard, this bezel will stay smooth and will not scratch in the daily wear easily. An additional choice besides the smooth bezel is the fluted white-gold bezel in the Rolesor models. The fluted bezel catches and reflects the light in many angles. Rolesor Datejust Watches combine the advantages of a tough stainless steel case and bracelet with the elegance of a lustrous radiant white-gold bezel. As you can imagine, the white-gold bezel Models are slightly more valuable than the stainless steel ones. Continue reading “Dark Rhodium Dial Datejust 41 – Buying Guide”

Warning! Rolex Prices are Rising!

Rolex Prices increasing risingIf you are looking to buy a high-quality watch, it can be depressing and demoralising to see the price increase while you hesitate, or try to decide precisely which timepiece to buy. In many ways, it is similar to the experience of those who waited too long to get into a strong bull market on the stock exchange, or Bitcoin.

Nevertheless, as you probably know, Rolex and many other luxury watch brands are situated in Switzerland. Therefore, if the US Dollar loses value against European currencies, the price rises for US consumers. However, there are also a number of other explanations for price increases, as we will explain in this article.

Short-Term Reasons: Currency Exchange Rate

Dollar Exchange Rate fallingThe primary short-term reason for Rolex price increases is, as previously mentioned, currency exchange rate changes. So, for buyers in the United States, the price of a Rolex will likely increase if the value of the US Dollar falls against European currencies like the Swiss Franc and the Euro.

From 2017 to 2018, there was a fairly significant fall in the value of the US Dollar against the Swiss Franc, which resulted in some price increases. However, this experience is not limited to customers in the United States. Continue reading “Warning! Rolex Prices are Rising!”
