We offer the lowest prices anywhere online and if you want to know the price of the watch simply click on the link in our description below. We would greatly appreciate it if you buy a watch from Jaztime.com once in a while. Today we'll be reviewing the Rolex Day-Date 40. This is the reference number or model number, 228235. We'll be going over the dial, bezel, case, crown, bracelet, clasp and we'll talk about the movement towards the end of the video. So jumping right into the dial, the dial configuration I currently have in my hand here is the Roman numeral hour markers. So you can see from the one and two, from the three to the 11, we have Roman numeral hour markers. The dial color is the chocolate dial or brown solid dial. There's other configurations for the dial, however, if you're not interested in the chocolate solid dial, you can also get it in a matte white dial, a sun dust or a green olive dial. Of course, if you're feeling a little more luxurious you can also opt for a pave diamond dial or also diamond hour markers as well. There are no index markers that come on this watch. This is strictly Roman numeral for the base model but besides that, Roman numerals are fashioned in 18 carat everose gold. Everose gold being basically what this whole entire watch is made out of. You can see from the case to the crown to the bracelet and the bezel itself that the everose gold is in-house made by Rolex. It's their, basically their rose gold mixture that they add a little bit of platinum to the mixture as well, to sort of keep this rose gold color throughout its lifetime. That's why they call it the everose gold. Whereas other brands their rose gold, red gold whatever gold they call it, with a reddish pinkish color can fade over time opposed to the Rolex version which will not fade over time. But besides that falls pretty much the same day date structure as every single day date model ever. We have the day at the very top of the 12 o'clock position as you see I currently have it set to Saturday. At the three o'clock position I have it set the date set to the five o'clock rather day five, to date five. We have a cyclops lens on top of that sapphire crystal for magnification and easy viewing of that date. Besides that we have Rolex text, the Rolex Oyster Perpertual dated name right at the 12 o'clock position with the Rolex crown as well. And at the six o'clock position we have the supurlative chronometer officially certified as well. Alright, so that's pretty much it for the dial. Let's go ahead and move on to the bezel now. The bezel is 18, as I mentioned, 18 karat everose gold bezel. This is a fluted, it's a fluted style bezel. As you can see, so it has that neat characteristic of sort of capturing light in various ways while also having various contrasting shadowed areas to sort of bring more shine to the face of the watch in conjunction with the sunburst feature of the dial itself as well as you can see, as I tilt around the light box you can kind of see the lights dance around the bezel and also on the dial as well you can see various areas of contrast of higher, you know lighter lights and with shadows on the side as well. Go ahead and move on to the case now. The case for this watch is a 40 millimeter case size. So from an index finger to my thumb here, that's 40 millimeters in diameter from the side profile view of the watch you can see very nice high Polish matching with a high Polish and the size of the bracelet. The thickness, the overall thickness of the watch, actually isn't too, too high. Will fit under the suit cuffs dress cuffs very nicely while this watch is on your wrist. On the other side, you can see the case is also high Polish in the side as well, matching along with the bracelet once more and on the crown itself you can see the high Polish on the crown itself as well with the Rolex logo on there with two dots, indicating that this is a twin lock, double waterproofness system. We're going to go ahead and move on to the crown functions, as this is a screw-down crown, we're going to go ahead unwind the crown counterclockwise as shown in the standard positions where you can wind the watch 15 to 20 clockwise turns is all you need to get the watch started from a dead stop. Pulling the crown out to the next position will allow you to change the date at the three o'clock position by moving clockwise and going counterclockwise will allow you to change the day at the 12 o'clock position. So as you can see, I set it to Tuesday the 28th. Pulling up the crown to the final position will stop that second time for precise time setting. As you see a stop there right after the two o'clock position You can move the hands bidirectionally in this position as well, for the seconds, for the seconds hand, stopping the second standard is important for setting precise time setting such as to an atomic clock online, you can set the time down to the exact seconds, pushing the crown back in will start the seconds hand once more and then you can go ahead and screw down the crown nice and tight, and in against the case, as you want to keep your watch water resistant. The water resistance for this day date you're looking at 100 meters or 330 feet. I'm going to go ahead and move onto the bracelet now. The bracelet is the president style bracelet. The day date typically only comes in the president's style bracelet if at most an oyster style bracelet but the president bracelet is unique to the day dates. I believe they added it from some of these smaller models of day dates as well. But it's a three-piece link style bracelet. You have a brush finish on the outer of the three links. Down the center we have nice high Polish or mirror Polish that goes throughout the whole bracelet. You can see that pattern is kept throughout the whole bracelet. Very nice tapering from the first link down to the back of the bracelet. And that's to keep a proportion of view overall for the face of the watch as I'll go ahead and tilt this back a little bit. You can see it keeps a nice proportion. The bracelet doesn't look like it's just too small for the head of the watch itself as I shift the bracelet all the way back around to the center of the bracelet is located here by the Rolex crown logo, this is called a concealed folding crown clasp as the crown conceals the clasp. and here's the clasp. The clasp has a nicely high polished or is a nicely high polish clasp blades with the Rolex name embossed on there. And I'll go ahead and zoom in on that. So you can take a look at that Rolex engraving on the clasp itself. So very beautiful engraving there. And then we're going to go ahead and close that back up once more. We're going to go ahead and move on to the movement now which is housing, this oyster style case backing. You can see a nice satin finish on the portion that sits on the back of your wrist while the outer edge of it is a nice bordered high polish. The movement on this watch is an updated movement from his previous predecessor, which was I believe the 128235. This movement is a in-house made movement by Rolex it's a caliber 30 to 55 movement as the functions of the center, hour, minutes and seconds hand changing instantaneous changing of the day and the date at the same time in that second function I showed you with the crown function and of course bidirection moving of the hand and stopping the second time for precise time setting, besides that we have a peramagnetic blue peracomb hairspring which helps with the resistance against magnetism, and also new shock absorbers moving away from the industry center shock absorbers which were the carry off shock absorbers. This is Rolex has their in-house-made paraphilic shock absorbers now, which they claim absorbs 50% more shocks than the industry standard. Besides that we have an update to the power reserve as well which used to be a 48 hour power reserve or around 50 hour power reserve. We are looking at a 70 hour power reserve now. Meaning that you could put this watch on a Friday evening picking it back up on a Sunday afternoon and it would be keeping time just fine. And one thing to mention is that as I showed you how to wind the watch, that's important for if you do decide to set down your watch for a long period of time, as I mentioned it's a 70 hour power reserve, So you'll have to restart, your watch by winding it from that standard position to get the watch started once more. But if you pick it up within that timeframe then your natural movements or inertia from your wrist movements will keep the watch running once more and keep it nice and wound. And if not, if you're already paying, you know, a large amount for a luxury watch why not just get a watch winder as well? You don't have to worry about winding anything and you can just leave it on your watch winder and pick it up whenever you want. So with that said let's go ahead and show you this watch on my wrist. So we're going to locate that crown, open up that bracelet, slip that on and close the clasp, very easy to use and very simple, as you can see chocolate dial very beautiful dial that matches the tone of the everose gold overall. I would say the Roman numerals look absolutely absolutely gorgeous with the high polish on them as well, to give a nice little shine to the face of the watch, matching with the sunburst sort of feature of that chocolate dial. As you can see, the president bracelet feels nice in proportion overall from the tapering of the links from the first all the way to the patterning all the way throughout for the bracelet.
