Today, we are going to talk about the Rolex Datejust 36 with a custom silver sunray dial set with diamonds, Oystersteel and white gold with an Oyster bracelet. Reference number - 126200. A classic model in Rolex's line of Datejust 36s. As the name suggests, the Datejust 36 is 36mm in diameter from finger to thumb. This model is made of white rolesor, Rolex's own compound of 18 karat white gold and Oystersteel for strength and corrosion resistance, while maintaining a luxurious look and feel, a formula featured on Rolex models since the early 1930s. The back contains the typical screw-down case back, helping to ensure water resistance down to 100 meters or 330 ft, and in addition, the right side contains the signature Rolex winding crown, which when screwed tightly to the case continues to ensure superior water resistance. The crystal on the front is of a transparent, scratch-resistant sapphire, so there's no fear of suit threads or buttons damaging the crystal. There's a Cyclops lens directly over the date for easy reading at a glance. The bezel was originally a domed bezel, matching the look of the rest of the case, but was replaced with an aftermarket diamond bezel at a customer's request, made to match the look of the dial. So, for reference, this is what it used to look like. Well, minus the raised parts. So, imagine that this bezel was placed perfectly, such that there's no overhang above the crystal and there's no raised part above that of the crystal when it comes to the height above the case. All right. And as I said, that came at a customer's request, made to match the look of the dial. The handset diamonds are capable of attracting attention from anywhere in the room with their ability to catch and reflect light from nearly angle. They're also set within this 18 karat white gold ring bezel handset as well. This dial is also an aftermarket silver dial with a brushed sunray pattern, giving it a nice texture while also maintaining easy readability. Note that the diamond hour markers are set in 18 karat white gold across all the numbers, except for the 12 and 3, which are taken by the Rolex crown logo and the date window respectively. These diamonds retain visibility very well and more angles than any other hour marker. The original dial was actually this white Roman numeral hour marker dial right here, as you can see. The hours are written in 18 karat white gold and depending on the angle it could be a little bit more difficult to read them. Because of that, the white dial with, say a specular white reflection would make it a little bit more difficult to read. But, when you have diamonds, they catch and reflect light at different points, so they're clearly visible regardless of the angle that you're looking at. All right. So, let's re-center, there we go. The crown contains the Rolex logo, and ensures water resistance down to a 100 meters or 330 ft. Setting a time and date are rather simple and work as you would expect, simply unwind the crown, so you can then wind the watch, should you need to wind it. Say, if you were at a dead stop, you just need to wind it maybe 15, 20 times to get it started again. To pull it out to the second position and you can turn it clockwise, it's about a quarter turn to advance the date by one. The throw is actually very, very sensitive, so if you're a time traveler, this'll be perfect for you to set the date properly. And if you find yourself on, say the 28th or 29th of February, you can easily advance the date to the 1st of March. Very simple. Pull out to the final position and note that doing so, hacks the seconds, so that you can then adjust the minute hand for precise timekeeping. Be sure to press it back in and screw it back against the case to ensure that superior water resistance and to also start up that seconds hand once more. So, what makes all of this work is the movement. It's a 30 to 35 caliber with a plus or minus two second time differential per 24 hours, continuing to exceed Swiss standards of timekeeping as a perpetual, mechanical and self-winding timepiece. So, you only need to wind it once fully while wearing it to allow the timepiece to continue winding throughout the day. The oscillator contains high performance Paraflex shock absorbers and a Parachrom blue hairspring to prevent electromagnetic interference. The power reserve is 70 hours, so you can set it down on a Friday evening and pick it back up on a Monday morning, ready to conduct business and it'll be keeping track of time just fine. No need to wind the crown. All right, now note that this bracelet is the Oyster style bracelet. That means flat three-piece links all the way down, white gold in the center with polished or with a satin brushed steel on the outer links with polished edges on those steel links. All right, and going down tapering, very slight taper all the way down to the clasp is the Oyster folding clasp. And the bonus to having the Oysterclasp is that you have that easy link 5mm extension. Simply pull it at a 45 degree angle to give yourself an extra 5mm. You can then close it as well by reversing the process. All right, very simple. And while we have this here, I can try it on and give you some of my thoughts as well. All right, so. All right, now, when it comes to size of the 36mm Datejust, it actually fits very well on my wrist, which is about seven and a half-ish inches in circumference. I get plenty of watch case and a good ratio of bracelet as well. So, it's a good framing for the main event right on the center of my wrist. All right, and when it comes to weight, it's rather light. It's not quite as light as say, Datejust 31, which is very, very tiny, but it is certainly a very balanced weight, especially with the way that the bracelet, when I wear it a little bit higher on my wrist, so that it's, you know, a snug fit that makes the weight distribution very much, right there, about halfway through my wrist. So, it feels very good to wear and also the low-profile, even though you have these, this highly textured diamond bezel, there's no fear of say, it getting stuck on a long sleeve or even suit threads or a suit cuff rather. So, very easy to wear. It feels very good. All right. So, enough of what I think. What do you think about this watch? Let us know what you think down in the comments below. And as always, if you'd like to purchase this or any other watch, or even get your watch with a custom set bezel, or diamond set dial, or any other sort of diamond set dial, or maybe any other dial, doesn't have to be diamond set. Maybe you want Roman numerals instead. You can do that through our site at JazTime.com. Links in the description below.
