We greatly appreciate if you purchase your next watch from us at Jaztime.com Today, we'll be looking at kind of an interesting watch, a Ballon Bleu de Cartier from Cartier, obviously. This on is the reference number W2BB0003. In other words, a two-tone Ballon Bleu de Cartier in 36 mm. We'll be doing an unboxing. I'll be going over the case, dial, the bezel, what there is to talk about it, the crown functions, as well as the bracelet here. And I'll be giving you my thoughts on all of those throughout the video, all right? So first with the unboxing. Here we go. We have the box here, and underneath, we also have the warranty. If you can see that there, there it is, all right. But I'm just gonna keep it in there, because there's no need to see it, because what matters here is the watch itself. Okay, so we have a little plastic cover on this one. It comes off very nicely. And the manufacturer's sealed tape here, okay. It's always tough doing this without any nails. Let's see, okay, so it starts on one side, completely ends at the other. Now, I wish unboxings did not have to involve me taking the tape off, because this takes quite a bit, and I'm sure you want to get on with the review. "Just get on with it already," you're saying. Of course, of course, I'm doing that. Well once, once I actually can, because this is a lot of faff for such a little thing, a little piece of tape, okay. And, as I said earlier, this is a two-tone Ballon Bleu de Cartier, meaning that you have both rose gold and steel featured throughout this bracelet. Very interestingly, we have rose gold in these, the first integrated link, with the second and the third intermediate links, but then, the rest of them are all steel. I believe these all can be removed to the size, to size the bracelet properly, while the rest of these, the rose-gold, intermediate links, cannot not actually be physically removed, okay? Unless, well, I don't know, Cartier just doing Cartier things. But anyway, here's the watch, the W2BB0003. This case measures 12.05 mm thick. That's basically all that really matters here, other than that it's a 36 mm diameter watch here. All right, and also take a look at that very interesting dial. It's what they call a twelve-zone, silvered flinqué guilloché dial with lacquered sunray effect. All right, just reading it directly, that's exactly what it is, and that's exactly how it appears. It's a very interesting, very distinct look for this dial, okay. If I am zoomed in all the way, you can actually see all the details on those 12 different zones. And as you can see, they are divided up by the hour, so it gives a very interesting and distinct look. And, all right so, here we go, 36 mm in diameter, from finger to thumb. All right, we also have this interesting bezel that is, sort of, literally part of the case here, the case front all in rose gold, and it also has this round crown guard. This watch is all about circles and roundness, a very interesting and sophisticated look that, honestly, they advertise as being, effectively, unisex. And I like to agree with that, because this is a very interesting watch, very, very sophisticated over-all look. I love the roman-numeral hour markers, very, very clean presentation, as you would expect from a Cartier watch, with the black numerals on a white background, the easiest way to read any sort of text. By the way, Cartier also managed to fit in their own name into the seventh hour mark there, on the V of the seven, all right. So anyway, on to the functions of this watch here. Now, it's kind of interesting, a little bit difficult, but you sacrifice the ease for the safety, as well as the over-all aesthetic, the appearance here. Okay, so the crown is inside this crown guard here, in steel, and the crown itself is also a fluted, 18 karat rose gold with cabochon crystal directly inside it, as you would expect from any Cartier, modern Cartier watch. All right, at the base position, you can simply wind the watch already, okay? And then, just simply pull it outward, to the first and only position. It stops that seconds hand, so that's quite useful, when you are setting the position of the minute hand. Now, keep in mind that the minute and seconds track is actually on the inside of the dial, within the range of the roman-numeral hour marks, as you can see, so it's actually pretty easy to set the minute hand. I actually very much like this format here, and you can actually set the minute hand precisely, and when it's ready, simply just press that crown back in. Not the easiest thing to do, but it's certainly possible, provide that you have two fingers to do so, all right? And actually, look. Look at that guilloché effect there. It's making some really weird, like, interesting patterns on this camera. You can't really see it in real life, because, well, that's just a lens and light refraction issue, only, you know, an optics issue, specifically. But well, anyway, on to the dial here. Anyway, we have the silvered guilloché dial. On the outer edge we have, what's more like, a concentric ring sort of track that the roman numerals follow on, okay? And we also have the blue silver, or blue, sword-shaped hands, very interesting, very elegant over-all appearance, a very good complimentary color also, as blue is the compliment of yellow, being the yellow in the rose gold. So you have a very good over-all presentation here, and at 36 mm, it's an excellent wear. It can go on anybody's wrist. Okay, and with these links here, we have a silver toned, but, you know, stainless steel, all high-polish, with intermediate links being rose gold for the first two, while the integrated link being rose gold, and then the first two after that being rose gold. After that, it's all stainless steel, and most people won't be seeing it, this part of your wrist, all that much, so it doesn't really matter. That also helps you save on the over-all cost of this watch, okay? And same thing is echoed on the 12 o'clock side, high-polish as well, H shaped links, with the intermediary, rose-gold links there. Okay, and this clasp opens up just like you would expect from any other Cartier. Just simply pull it open, all right? It's non-very-easy to open, but it does require some force, you know, so it's not gonna fall off your wrist anytime soon, all right? It has the double deployment, very good for, you know, snug fits especially. While we're here, I can actually try it on as well, so you can get a feel for how it wears on a seven inch wrist, which is what I measured. Okay, and when putting this on, just do one side first, snap it in, then the other side snaps in nice and easy, all right? Now, on the wrist, this thing has links out, going, going everywhere. Okay, so the links on this, I can certainly size this to my wrist, but 36 mm on my wrist feels very good. Although it does seem a bit smaller than, say, a Rolex, and that's due to the fact that these lugs are not actually at the ends of the watch. They're more inside the watch, as you can see here. They're much closer together, so it really makes this watch case seem a bit bigger in comparison to the lugs. But, when you compare the case to your wrist size, it feels smaller, so kind of an interesting little optical effect going on here, all right. But I do get a very good framing of the case by the bracelet on either side. And I'll be honest, you really don't need these links down here to be rose gold, because, when you're looking at the time, you can see all the rose-gold links you need to see. And also, you do get a bit of saving here, because, if you happen to rest your wrist on your desk, well there's only damage going to be on the steel portion of the bracelet and not so much on the rose-gold portion of the bracelet. These parts closer to the case are less likely to get any sort of damage, so I think that's actually a very smart decision from Cartier to, you know, actually save you some cost there. And if you ever want to, you know, get these links replaced, it's much cheaper for you as well, all right? And when it comes to the over-all wear of this case on the wrist, it's very, very light. It's incredibly light. And also, keep in mind this case just goes straight outward. As we can see going down the arm here, there is space underneath these lugs. Not a bad thing at all, because you get extra breathe-ability. And it doesn't stick out all that far, or at all really, so there's no danger of this hitting any, you know, sort of door knob or table edge, chair, you name it. All right, it'll be just fine on the wrist. And you get that good venting, very useful for any sort of watch anywhere, okay. And, with that bright, silvered background, distinctive look, easy to read, and I just love the roman numerals. It really gives it a very, very easy way to read the time. Even if you're, you know, new to the analog world of reading time on a watch, it makes it very easy to read. So I would say it's a very good watch to start with, in your collection. And, even if there's a Hollinger collection that could be filled by the Ballon Bleu, then certainly, go for it. It's a very elegant watch, certainly for looks, and it's got the function to boot. Anyway, if you like this video, hit that like button. Be sure to subscribe, if you haven't already. And leave us a comment down below. What do you think about this watch? I quite like this. It's a very good, over-all good presentation, nice, clean presentation, and it just works with anybody, anything, doesn't matter what you wear or who you are. Get one of these. It's very distinct, very sophisticated over-all look. But what do you guys think? I'd love to hear, down in the comments below.
