In fact, there were audible gasps when the timepiece was showcased at Baselworld 2016, such was the pent up excitement amongst those at the event.<\/p>\n<p>The timepiece, which has enjoyed iconic status since its association with Paul Newman in the 1970s, is one of the most popular Rolex models of all and the anticipation surrounding a first significant update since 2000 was always likely to lead to huge demand. Yet, the demand is such that the model may be almost impossible to purchase.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"exponential-amounts-of-positive-reviews\">Exponential Amounts of Positive Reviews<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/l9KKVtM0dYw\" width=\"100%\" height=\"314\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In terms of major changes from previous versions, the most noteworthy aspect of the new Daytona is the upgrade to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jaztime.com\/rolex-cosmograph-daytona-116500ln-40mm-black-cerachrom-black-ceramic-stainless-steel-brand-new\" target=\"_blank\">black ceramic bezel<\/a>, which pays tribute to the Plexiglas black bezel of the 1965 model. Moreover, this switch to ceramic has helped to give the bezel a more pleasing look and enhanced anti-corrosive properties. Surprisingly the new yellow gold Daytona uses a gold and not a cerachrome\u00a0bezel. Where as Ceramic does not scratch easy, gold is so soft that basically any contact scratches it. So it seems like Rolex choose design over practicality on this one.<\/p>\n<p>There are other subtle changes, such as to the color scheme of the sub-dials on the white-faced version of the timepiece, but overall, the modifications are fairly conservative.
