The model was primarily defined by its programmable 10-minute countdown timer, which came complete with an integrated bezel function and a mechanical memory; a first in the world of watch-making.<\/p>\n<p>Exactly a decade on, the brand has unveiled a brand new version of the Yacht-Master II, giving it an extensive facelift. Here, we take a more in-depth look at the new release and the changes that have been made.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"sharper-and-more-defined-appearance\"><strong>Sharper and More Defined Appearance<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1901 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jaztime.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Rolex-Yachtmaster-II-2-Baselworld-2017-.jpg\" alt=\"Rolex Yachtmaster II 2 Baselworld 2017\" width=\"720\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jaztime.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Rolex-Yachtmaster-II-2-Baselworld-2017-.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.jaztime.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Rolex-Yachtmaster-II-2-Baselworld-2017--300x146.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the new 2017 Rolex Yacht-Master II Ref. 116680, most of the changes are aesthetic and focused on creating a sharper appearance, for improved legibility. For example, a triangle dial marker has been placed at the <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_476770190\"><span class=\"aQJ\">12 o&#8217;clock<\/span><\/span> position, while a rectangle dial marker now appears at <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_476770191\"><span class=\"aQJ\">6 o&#8217;clock<\/span><\/span>, helping to make reading the time more intuitive.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the hands have been updated to be in-line with many of Rolex&#8217;s Professional models, complete with the &#8216;Mercedes&#8217; style hour hand. As with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jaztime.com\/rolex\/yacht-master\/yacht-master-40\" target=\"_blank\">other Rolex models<\/a>, the Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master II has Superlative Chronometer certification, guaranteeing precision timekeeping to -2\/+2 seconds per day, after casing.<\/p>\n<p>A number of different case materials are available, including the entry-level 904L stainless steel model, and more expensive models made from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jaztime.com\/rolex-yacht-master-ii-116688-men-s-44mm-18k-yellow-gold-white-ceramic-brand-new\" target=\"_blank\">18k yellow gold<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jaztime.com\/rolex-yacht-master-ii-116689-white-gold-18k-yachtmaster-44mm-platinum-regatta\" target=\"_blank\">18k white gold with platinum<\/a>.
