The aesthetics of the Rolex Datejust 41 is timeless. The Datejust is one of the Rolex models with the most history behind it. Compared to the Oyster-Perpetual the Date with Cyclops Lens has a big impact on the face of the timepiece. As you might know, Rhodium is a corrosion resistant precious metal in the platinum group of metals. But it is almost twice as expensive as Platinum (see price chart). Since the Rolex Datejust is a perfect specimen of a classic dress watch, you can wear the dark rhodium Datejust 41 to all occasions. The dark rhodium fits many classic color combinations. It does not fit to yellow or rose-gold however. That’s why Rolex does not offer the Datejust 41 rhodium dial with pink- or yellow-gold models.

Bezel: 904L Stainless Steel smooth vs White-Gold fluted

You can choose a full 904L Stainless Steel Datejust 41 with a dark rhodium dial. These very robust models have a smooth domed bezel around the face of the watch. Since the special Rolex steel is very hard, this bezel will stay smooth and will not scratch in the daily wear easily. An additional choice besides the smooth bezel is the fluted white-gold bezel in the Rolesor models. The fluted bezel catches and reflects the light in many angles. Rolesor Datejust Watches combine the advantages of a tough stainless steel case and bracelet with the elegance of a lustrous radiant white-gold bezel. As you can imagine, the white-gold bezel Models are slightly more valuable than the stainless steel ones.

Dial Hour Markers: 18k Gold Stick vs Diamond

How much is one hour worth to you? The rhodium Datejust 41 is characterized by stick index hour markers fashioned from 18ct gold to prevent tarnishing. Sadly there are no 41mm rhodium dial Datejust models with Arabic or Roman dial markers. Still, there are other choices if you do not like the stick index hour markers, such as a diamond set dark rhodium dial. Those are only available with the white-gold fluted bezel models.

Bracelet: Oyster vs Jubilee vs President Wristband

The wristband is much more than a means to attach the Rolex Case to your wrist. Comparing the same dark rhodium dial color, with different bracelet types, can make a big difference in the appearance of the watch. The classic Oyster bracelet that was originally created for the Rolex Oyster Perpetual combines form and function with it’s design to be both robust and comfortable. The five-piece link Jubilee Bracelet was especially designed for the introduction of the Datejust in 1945 and could possibly be referenced that the Datejust 41 with jubilee bracelet is the true Datejust design. It is very supple and thus very comfortable to wear. Additionally there is contrasting difference of brushed vs polished steel creating a slight two-tone effect which helps draw attention than the oyster wristband. Of course, even the basic stainless steel Datejust 41 offers the possibility of a jubilee bracelet.

Finally, the president bracelet was added in with the beautifully unique stripped Rhodium dial to concluded the comparison with the most luxurious choice of bracelet, the President bracelet. Found on Rolex Day-Date watches,  the semi-circular three piece link President bracelet, was created in 1956 for the first Rolex Day-Date model. One could argue that the president bracelet looks slightly like a mix of the oyster and jubilee, taking the best features of both.
